340 Basic Camping
Greyneys Camping Ground is a small campsite right next to the main road surrounded by large trees. Quite boggy in the middle. This is the starting spot for several walks. There is a shelter to cook in, but not to stay in.....!

Not free anymore!!
Small area beside the road with space for about 5 vehicles if parked close together. Lots of sand flies too.

very good and quiet place with a shelter which you can cook inside. Collect some wood for the fire!!
Near the road but free. this road start to become noisy at 7 am, when it's time to get up and enjoy the park ;)
Close to arthur's pass village when plenty of walks start.
Right next to the highway and SANDFLIES. Sandflies up the wazoo. Shelter with fireplace was nice, but so many sandflies. The sandflies were horrendous. Only stay here if you like sandflies.
Not a bad spot for free. There is a big shelter there built from stones with a fireplace for communal gatherings. Basic toilet.Negatives are that it's right on the road and a busy railway nearby.
Nice campground (free).
Lovely site and we loved the keas. Toilets could have been better.
Thanks to all the good people working for the NZ Department of Conservation - for all your hard work - making NZ more beautiful, accessable and healthy! Cheers 😍
