Amazing little campsite, very sheltered. 8 bucks a night for adults as I remember. Flushing toilets in a toilet block so clean you could sleep on the floor. Has some river to go and explore. Plenty of different areas and little bays to lay a tent. 100% recommend this place if i the area

4 clean toilets but the campground is quite small, not a lot of sites - its compact. Site is very nice overall, there are some full time gold panners, some with interesting stories and some seem to want to keep to themselves. Lots of shade if you like, and some shy but curious weka.

Great spot! Peaceful location with brand new toilets/sinks.
Good spot, was fairly busy when we went. Facilities were nice and clean, neighbours were friendly, would visit again.
good camp spot. 4 flushing toilets that are well maintained as well as water supply and sinks for washing up. quite a bit of space however did seem to fill up a lot at night (december) however very few longer stay campers except those mining for gold. If looking to stay there longer than one night suggest getting there around the middle of the day to find a better site. Nearer the entrance does lose the sun sooner.
No cell reception at this site, however you can walk up the pack track and get reception up there (30mins walk) or just drive up to stafford cemetery or approx 7 mins towards kumara.
As with all NZ campsites there are mosquitos & sandflies however we found them not as bad as at other campsites, so we found them very tolerable.
Great spot, loved the comical Weka's chasing you around for food, wouldn't eat apples but loved sausages as it turned out!
It was wet and miserable when we stayed so didn't get much opportunity to discover more. Good facilities.
Lovely tidy and clean. There were wekas (not Kiwi lol) but as per usual if you keep your camp tidy it's all good! We stayed here during a bit of bad weather and the camp was very sheltered. The surrounding roads were blocked by fallen trees in the morning but the camp was safe even in our tent!
Great spot to stay with clean toilets, sink and water access. There are great walks departing from the campground and a nice river we’re you can look for gold ;)
Thanks to all the good people working for the NZ Department of Conservation - for all your hard work - making NZ more beautiful, accessable and healthy! Cheers 😍
