A great campsite surrounded by bush and hills. Camp on the grassy flats, heaps of space to find your own area. There is a shelter you can duck into to sort your self out in adverse weather conditions, you can also tuck into the bush for more private campsites.

A few walks start from this area. There are BBQ sites, picnic areas and rubbish facilities.

Near the road but still quiet. Lots of trees but also spaces in the open if u need the sun. As previously stated views of the hills close by. Many firepits for when the restrictions are lifted

We arrived, looked around and thought it was a beautiful spot so we paid the $16 fee and set everything up...then they came for us...
Sandflies from HELL!!!!
And the most insane horde of bumblebees that we've ever encountered.
They appear immune to repellent and we had to hide in our campervan, even nightfall did not stop them.
The next morning it was raining yet there they were clinging to the side of our vehicle waiting for us to emerge.
Better off staying in Reefton or just keep driving.

Easy access from the main road, but still quiet, large spaces at the lawn areas or in "private" boxes under the trees. Prepared fire places, clean toilets, water and bins available. 5h walk (return) to St. Daniel Lake. Beware of the sand flies!

Easy to get to from the main road yet still a peaceful spot. We camped here and walked to Lake Daniels the next day. Would have given more points if there weren't so many sandflies!

Nice big open campground with heaps of room, you can tuck in under the trees on the bush edge for some protection from wind and rain . Great views across the flats to the river and mountains.

Our first stay at a DOC site. Beautiful views and some really lovely walks through the forest. The site is also on the Alpine fault line and in 1964 the scientist Frank Edison built a wall to see if the could measure the movement in the Alpine fault. Must see, part of NZ history.
