We were with our 6 berth camper and had a great time here. It's truly an amazing campsite with very clean facilities and stunnings views from almost every spot. Enough picknicktables, a playground for the little ones; It's perfect for families. The glowworms at the back of the campsite at night are a cool experience as well.
More pros:
- friendly staff
- camping shopCons:
- coin system for showers

Our first campsite on a month-long campervanning holiday. Very busy (as expected for time of year). Rather brusque woman doing check in, not very welcoming. No dump station. Decent fish & chips. Campsite seemed expensive for the area and you have to pay for showers on top. The small play park across the road was good for the kids; just beware of the biting insects! Nice trail along the water’s edge for a morning jog.

Love this location right on the Queen Charlotte sound. We were the only campers and we enjoyed the peace and tranquility of this amazing cove. It costs $18 per person and the facilities were immaculately clean. The shower is required a one dollar coin.

Great hot showers (but extra money on an already higher end cost) and well stocked shop. Nice spot by the lake but is near the road - not too noisy though

We were there for two nights and enjoyed the stay. The facilities were clean and new. And being able to hop into the water was great, as it was really warm weather while we stayed.
It is not an especially beautiful campground setting but the view of the sound is really stunning to see, especially the sunset.

A beautiful setting and well-maintained campsite with all the facilities clean and working well. We were in the inland section which was sheltered, but separated from the toilets and beach by a quiet road. We went to see the glow worms just after dusk which were spectacular, it's well worth taking the smaller track off the main path to see even more.

Gorgeous location, but very expensive. App said free wifi but this is only if you have a spark phone on certain contracts. Also mentioned hot showers but these cost $1 per five minutes in addition to the $21 per adult, per night fee.
Wouldn't stay again, this whole place is beautiful so there's really no need to pay this.

Wonderful site! Amazing view. We stayed here for a night in August. Powered site with water supply right on the water's edge. The facilities were spotlessly clean and modern - lovely hot shower for $1. No dump station, but we used the one in Picton at the Challenge garage.

The facilities were excellent, sparkling clean and modern. This campsite is really great value for money, not too far from the Picton ferry and only $15 per adult for a powered campervan site. A hot shower is $1 and well worth it. There is a track close to the campsite where you can see glow worms at night and goats during the day. There were also phosphorescence along the shore line The night we stayed, and we spotted seals playing in the water the next morning! I imagine the camp would be packed in summer, but late June it was nice and peaceful.

Beautiful spot at the water's edge, with quite possibly the best view from a children's playground ever. Really good facilities - spotless and perfect for our needs. We camped in May, and enjoyed the site almost to ourselves. Watching day break over the water, and the changing colours of the low-hung cloud was magical. 20mins drive from Picton, so a great place to stay before or after a ferry crossing. The kitchen is quite small though, so may seem a bit crowded in high season (not a problem for us).

What a beautiful spot, so near the Sound with best view from each campsite for mobile homes. There are a lot of opportunities like swimming, canoeing, trekking and discovering from this place. The facilities were very clean and in best new standard. We would come again if possible!

Stayed here on our last night on the South Island before catching the Picton-Wellington ferry. Great location and a well kept camp. Bathroom/shower facilities are very new and quite nice. Had a spot right by the water. At high season, it may fell a bit crowded but not an issue for us in April.

Very nice camping sites, very well organized, friendly staff, incredibly clean bathrooms, hot showers for $1 NZD for 5 minutes. Has lots of spots by the bay, which makes an incredible view in the morning. There are also some ducks which are quite lovely. $15 NZD per person for powered sites.

Very nice campsite, modern facilities, great location right on the water, powered sites. A shame we still had to pay for a hot shower, it seems that showers are a luxury in NZ. The camp kitchen is great too, unfortunately some campers left a mess behind. That was the best DOC campsite we found in NZ.

Good sea bathing options, cold water in the showers was reasonable warm for a free shower (mid- March). Terrace-styled spots that can get flooded on heavy rains so think twice before choosing one. Local shop is cash-only for groceries, accommodation can be paid by card.

We've arrived in New Zealand .... was my remark as we passed this picturesque spot on the Queen Charlotte Drive Scenic Route out of Picton
We were heading to a site in Canvastown, but never got there, we stayed here for 2 nights instead
Had a plot right on the waterfront, $15 each a night for a powered site, $5 for the wi-fi, showers coin operated $1 for 5 mins
I can imagine this is a busy site in the peak season, but there were very few here during our stay, so the camp was quiet and clean
Very helpful office, and a nice nature walk (30 mins round trip) up the hill behind the site where there is a chance of seeing glow worms
We watched for dolphins but didn't see any, however, there were some very friendly ducks to keep us company every mealtime

Just WAY too crowded, set-up of the sites does not help. Probably good if you come off season as the location is nice. Road to Picton very twisty which will slow you down esp. in a campervan; allow extra time if need to catch the ferry.

Stunning location. No extra charge for waterfront pitch, so worth phoning & booking one as the views are incredible! Lovely sheltered beach, great for swimming. Showers $1NZD tokens from reception, which also does great ice-cream. Staff friendly & helpful. Lovely walk up onto the hilltop behind the site gives great views over the site and the sound, take a late-night stroll up the same path to see the glow-worms. Very clean, cheap launderette on main site, along with good kitchen facilities.

an absolutely great place to stay; we enjoyed the sunsetting on the beach, overlooking queen charlotte sound and the site where we made our hiking trip on the queen charlotte track! as we did know about the "DOC" Campsites, we expected to find a Campsite with simple facilities - please leave this like it is; we find it very charming and most naturally ;instead of all the luxury accomodations!
