What a spot!! Right on the water's edge on Queen Charlotte Drive. This camping spot is extremely popular as there are heaps of things to do in this area including any sort of marine activity, walking, biking, fishing you name it - it's here.
This site even has a shop operating during the summer season for your ice cream and fish 'n' chip fixes.
Please note that there are no pets or music at this family camp ground as the sites are close together.

Fantastic spot, such a farm reception. Beautiful views and stand was right on the water. Showers was clean and seems to have had a recent renovation. Remember to take $1 for 5 min shower. Cafe coffee top notch and we will be back for sure

Pricey, clean with a side of dismissive and rude service. This place was $20pp for a non powered sight and showers are coin operated on top of that. We stayed in late April 2021, what let this place down was no bin in the small kitchen area, no detergent or utensils. Payed showers on top of the price and the rude service upon arrival and the insane strictness about check in (only allowing you to park your van in a spot after 2pm) and check out strictly at 10am. If you are there later than 10am you are locked out of the facilities and judged disaprovingly if you hang around to take in the bay after that. Despite it being super quiet, late in yhe season with no tourists in the country. Strictly no dogs too.
Although the setting is lovely and the facilities are very clean, I would not stay here again. Both the lady and the guy running this place were abrasive and dismissive which really ruined the vibe. Not a good kiwi experience at all.

This site has everything, great facilities, amazing location and awesome sites right next to the water. Great nature walk where you can see glow worms at night and heaps of native birds during the day. We went for a walk during the day and friendly piwakawaka flew with us for the whole walk!
A pleasant surprise was the walkway that follows the coast from Picton and travels through the site. Great for day walks, runs or mountain biking.
I’d imagine it would get busy in peak season but off peak we had only a handful of other campers to share this great site with.
Is fully serviced and you pay a decent amount per night for this, but considering the location and everything it has to offer it is well worth the cost.
Be aware that the shop is only open for the busier months.

Lovely place but super pricey. We were charged $46 for a spot by the water in April (small camper, 2 people, powered), and then had to pay for showers on top. There were no easy access garbage bins, just those behind the shop, nowhere near sites or kitchen.
It is pretty, lovely walk, glow worms etc, and super clean toilets. But ridiculously expensive. 10 for location and facilities, 2 for price.
Each camping location is approved by a regional council in NZ. So if it shows on the map, you’re allowed to stay.

Bit expensive at $23/night/person and showers are extra. Quite busy and crowded with families. Kitchen facilities are okay.

We were with our 6 berth camper and had a great time here. It's truly an amazing campsite with very clean facilities and stunnings views from almost every spot. Enough picknicktables, a playground for the little ones; It's perfect for families. The glowworms at the back of the campsite at night are a cool experience as well.
More pros:
- friendly staff
- camping shopCons:
- coin system for showers

Our first campsite on a month-long campervanning holiday. Very busy (as expected for time of year). Rather brusque woman doing check in, not very welcoming. No dump station. Decent fish & chips. Campsite seemed expensive for the area and you have to pay for showers on top. The small play park across the road was good for the kids; just beware of the biting insects! Nice trail along the water’s edge for a morning jog.

Love this location right on the Queen Charlotte sound. We were the only campers and we enjoyed the peace and tranquility of this amazing cove. It costs $18 per person and the facilities were immaculately clean. The shower is required a one dollar coin.

Great hot showers (but extra money on an already higher end cost) and well stocked shop. Nice spot by the lake but is near the road - not too noisy though

We were there for two nights and enjoyed the stay. The facilities were clean and new. And being able to hop into the water was great, as it was really warm weather while we stayed.
It is not an especially beautiful campground setting but the view of the sound is really stunning to see, especially the sunset.

A beautiful setting and well-maintained campsite with all the facilities clean and working well. We were in the inland section which was sheltered, but separated from the toilets and beach by a quiet road. We went to see the glow worms just after dusk which were spectacular, it's well worth taking the smaller track off the main path to see even more.
