Lots of rain when staying there but managed to find a dry place to set up the tent. Clean kitchen and bathroom, everything perfect. And just 32$ for two people, unpowered site.

15 dollars per person for an unpowered site. Lots of sites. Old but very well maintained camping. You cannot complain for that price. I recommend this place.

I stayed here twice (before and after visiting Stewart island)
It is quite a simple campground, but still really nice. Strong, hot and free showers, a big and alright equiped kitchen, 500mb of free wifi ( only issue it doesn't work really well), a big area for tents and vehicles (non powered).
Very friendly and helpful owners/ staff.
I had some struggles with my car and they were a great help, they gave me a lift to a garage and even provided me with a bike, so I could drive into town etc
Overall good experience and would always come back.

Beautiful site. Very friendly staff; my partner needed a shed to fix our trailer after it got damaged on our way down here and the owner let us use their shed. They have permanent residents onsite and their pricing is very affordable. I love how their layout of the kitchen, laundry and showers/toilets all being in the same area, saves having to travel to multiple areas of the camp to use them. They also have a dump station which many camps don't have. Definitely recommend and will gladly stay again should the need arise.

A nice campsite for a good price. Somewhat dated amenities, but all functioning and clean :-)
Great, powerful, hot and non-metered showers.
Relaxed staff :-)

Great campsite for a great price! Very friendly staff. Big and clean bathroom and kitchen facilities. It is not a Top 10 campsite but very well maintained and presentable. Won’t mind camping there again while exploring Invercargill or on the road touring further up the South Island.

Quite boring camp site. Facilities was quite old but at least we got warm showers and a powered site for $75 (4 adults and 2 children). Close-ish (1-2km) to the ocean beach and the nearby river. The kids enjoyed the playground with the flying fox! Really friendly owners!

Think Twice.
My experience here was less than fantastic.
As a tourist in a camper, this site feels like an overflow for low income live in residents from Invercargill.
The showers were hot and strong, but the overall shower block was a unpractical to use, could have been cleaner, but the free music did help some.
The kitchen was very poorly equipped with almost no utensils, even the locals were not pleased, dripping taps also.
Beware the winds from the west, and the noise form the nearby racing track.
The best part of my stay was exiting the site and looking at it in my rear view mirror.

Beach Road Holiday Park - Otatara responds:

Get your facts correct before you open your big gob! (Overflow from low income) what gives you the right to judge what other peoples incomes are - they are retired people who have spent a lot of money to live in their luxuries - motorhomes are expensive to own. The shower block has good quality showers, toilets, hand basins, hairdryer, hand drier, soap, what more do you need? How impractical is that! We find offence that you think it could have been cleaner as the facilities are well cleaned by ourselves and anything dirty would have resulted from current tourists using the facilities. The kitchen is for the use of campers and the utensils are made available but unfortunately throughout the season tourists steal the cutlery, plates, pots they want to keep. Sorry we are not God the wind would have been blowing anywhere in Invercargill. The racing track or cars do not have lights and do not race past 5pm and don't start until 10am and only have a handful of race meetings a year. I find your last comment offensive and bullying and shows us what type of people you are. You had a choice and we don't force anyone to stay if they do not appreciate our park. You should never book in if you had not wanted to stay. Reviews from other people are more realistic. Anyone reading this review are welcome to inspect our park prior to booking in.

Fabulous comfy beds. Beautifully clean and large toilets and showers, Endless hot water and heaps of pressure.. So quiet and relaxed. Excellent price scale. Lovely big smiley welcome. Looks a bit dated , But looks are deceiving. Will definately recommend to all our friends. Thank you so much for a wonderful relaxed weekend.

I have used this site as a base for the Burt Munro Challenge for the past three years.
Positioned adjoining the Teretonga Raceway and within walking distance of the rally site and the Oreti Park speedway it is ideally situated.
Gerry has always provided a friendly welcome and good facilities - kitchen, laundry and showers with abundant hot water. The character cabins are spotless and have modern furniture.
Highly recommended!

Gerry makes you feel welcome from the second you arrive.

Great value for money.

The shower facility is tops. Great idea with the wooden pank Gerry.

Love the look of the old buses.

Cheers & will most def be coming back.

I'd score this 20/10 if I could. Wish all holiday park owners were as tops as Gerry.

We frequently stay at Beach Rd Holiday Park in Invercargill, Gerry and Sharon are great hosts, its like staying with family without the hassle of them being family
The tourist flats are always clean and fresh smelling with clean linen, the shower is to die for, theres something wonderfully unique about the water and its hot hot hot. Just what you need after a long day of travel.
Everything you need is close by, and waking up to the sound of tuis in the morning is a delight.
Dog friendly a big plus for us.
Its a home away from home.

I have stayed in alot of holiday parks. I would rate this one of my more favorable experiences. Management are courteous and helpful. Cheap rates. Excellent kitchen facilities, showers and toilets. Tui's and bell birds singing everywhere. Oreti beach 2 minutes down the road. What more could I ask for. Thanks for the experience. Will be back.

Exactly what I wanted and what i was looking for. Friendly and helpful, and convenient for all the attractions of the area.
I would never blame them for the weather or the grotty mood I arrived in. Will definitely use you again, Many thanks.

Clean enough where it counts, shame about the rest of the place, run down grounds, overgrown vegetation, rooms with 2-3 paint schemes, permanent residents in rundown campsites, plenty of room though the camp sites are smallish, a bit depressing really.
