We provide you with Magnificent Mountain and lake views. A stunning holiday park on the lakefront of Lake Hawea. Lots of room to set up camp and relax.

A summer camping break at Lake Hawea Holiday Park has been a highlight for generations of kiwis – it’s time you found out why for yourself!

The park is sited on the shores of Lake Hawea, a deep blue, crystal clear glacial lake with rugged mountains plunging steeply into the water on three sides.

Just next to Glen Dene High Country station and within walking distance to Hawea township, foot access to the Hawea River trail (we rent good quality mountainbikes) you are also only a 15 minute drive to Wanaka township.

With 20ha of land dedicated to camping locations, you can choose from a variety of camping set-ups, all offering peaceful and sheltered locations with unique outlooks. There are beautiful mature trees and there is plenty of room to set up your camp with friends and family.

This was one of the best parks we visited in NZ!

Very spacious campsites with nice view of lake and good price. Nice and clean toilets/showers.

We loved staying here!! Mike the owner was a hoot and was very helpful !

Wow! We love your review. Thank you for your comments. We are biased but think Lake Camp, Hawea is one of the best too!

$38 for powered site, limited free wifi. Very quiet at this time of year. We almost had the large part to ourselves & could chose where we wanted to park. Amazing views of the mountains, very peaceful with lovely surrounds, grass & trees. Amenities clean & simple with free hot showers.

Fabulous setting in a spacious parkland. Generous pitches (but costs extra for lakeside - probably not worth it). Good shower block but draughty and not very fly proof. Very friendly reception staff. Good laundry. Take aways available in the village shop.

I can't say a bad thing about this campsite. We tented with our two dogs and it was bliss! The bathrooms were clean, the showers hot and strong, the views amazing and the kitchen big and equipped! We got there early so got to pick a beautiful spot, sheltered from the wind thanks to the trees but still offering a beautiful view. The only downside for me was, the rules were that all dogs had to be on lead (obviously) but three times dogs came running through our site when their owners walked them off-lead.

A powered site for 2 people costs $38. A large campsite with many families. Not too quiet. Kitchen too small for the many people. Too few showers / toilets. Bad cost / benefit ratio.

We spent two nights here just after Christmas 2016. The positives: stunning lake scenery, great hikes/bike trails in the immediate vicinity, and a peaceful and quaint town that has great (and cheap!) ice cream. The park itself was packed full with people, so we didn't get a premium site for our camper van, which was understandable. The facilities were fine, no issues. My major complaint - and the reason I'm taking time to write a review - was the management, specifically the older woman I encountered on a number of occasions. She was so off-putting and dismissive of my park-related questions that I would absolutely not stay there again, if only because of her attitude. A complete lack of understanding for customer service. As an example, I went in to ask about possible fishing boat tours for me and my family. "Oh, you have to have a license, so you wouldn't be able to go. Sorry." This her response, with a strong condescending tone. Never mind that I DID have a license, but I suppose since I was a foreigner, there's no way I could understand. Made it that much worse that I encountered this unpleasant woman on Christmas Day. What a downer. Unless you've got no other choice, don't stay here, if only to avoid her.

Loved the divine views of Lake Hawea - very peaceful. We had some unseasonally windy weather and it was still beautiful! Facilities are what you would expect. They do need to invest in a fly killer machine in the kitchen and bathrooms to take care of the influx of sandflies - we had to swat hundreds before having a shower! Also, the local shop up the hill, although quaint is ridiculously expensive. Stock up before you get here!

WE LOVE THIS PLACE... so tranquil and idyllic.. the view from the campsite is fantastic and the grounds are beautiful with lush grass and lots of mature trees. The beach at the campsite is rocky but still accessible. The township is a nice walk. The beauty of this place is breath-taking! We had such a good relaxing time there that we eagerly stayed an extra night. Will look forward to going there again for a longer stay. The campsite facilities and staff are excellent. Thank you!

Stunning spot! The owners were lovely and so helpful. Parked up right by the lake on a powered site. Went for a fish in the lake. Showers were so nice and warm and there was a laundry room as well. So happy we stayed here.

The most spectacular camp encountered on our trip. Absolutely beautiful location. Facilities old but good and management very helpful. Highly recommended for its ambience - changing light on adjacent hills and lake,

I thought this camp was expensive for what it was and to get a view of the lake it's a premium price.

Beautiful location and HUGE grounds filled with amazing big trees. Loads of facilities too: showers, kitchens, power points, laundry. We reset here for 3 days before venturing back out to free camp spots and the life of minimal showering.
