Amazing place to stay for the night on the way to Franz Josef.
We were comfortable, the park had laundry facilities so we were able to do our washing, dump station and the lovely lake views. I recommend staying here, it is safe and comfortable

Incredible nice place. The coast of the lake is unique. Facilities are ok enought, all though what is remarkable is the nature there. Plenty of free places, we didn’t need to reserve.
Friendly staff. A bit crowded. Facilities old.
Well organised and everything you need.
We met a rude employee in charge of the relationship with customers, who ask us a proof of our booking like we were intruders, yells customers like childrens ! Warning : reduction with Rankers Camping is ONLY if you book more of 2 nights.
40$ for 2 for a tente site, this could be correct, but the wifi is terrible and limited (or you have to pay), the toilets in tent site are prefabricated (the real toilets are really far from tente site), no picnic tables.
The kitchen is well equiped but too small, and there is a great view on the lake, but definitively this is an industrial camping. We do not recommand at all.
Lovely, well organised site. Spotlessly clean hot showers, large well equipt kitchen and beautiful lake views.
Lake Hawea Holiday Park responds:
Thank you Ellie for your 10/10 review!! We are very happy you enjoyed your stay here with us at Lake Hawea Holiday Park. The hot showers are great at Winter time and the lake views are absolutely stunning.
Hope the rest of your holiday was fabulous!
One of the best lakeside views I’ve seen at a campsite, with big open tent sites, cost of which has gone up to $40 for unpowered. Reasonably sized kitchen with most utensils and showers were clean and tidy and 30 mins free WiFi. Be ready for some flies lakeside other than a great campsite just out of Wanaka.
Paid $34 for 2 persons, much cheaper than other sites we stayed at. Large holiday park and depending where you camp you can have a great view of the lake. Toilets and showers clean and tidy. On site staff were friendly and happy for a chat.
