THESE GUYS ARE A CLASS ACT! - My job in NZ is a travel agent, I have done pretty much all the trips and tours in NZ from bungy jumping and skydiving to helicopter trips to Volcano's and Glaciers HOWEVER this is my favourite and most enjoyble trip I have done in the past 2 years in NZ.
The guides, Russ and T, were amazing. They made the trip flow perfectly to maximise the time during the day to give the best experience. Throughout the whole day I was entertained either by having a casual chat or by the ziplining, scrambling, abseiling, rock jumping etc etc. This is REAL CANYONING, if you like the outdoors you will love this. Canyoning is literally what scares me the most, but with these guys I was able to push myself out of my comfort zone but in a comfortable environment.
Although the initial price may seem more than other trips, I GUARANTEE you will have no complaints by the end of the day and would pay to do it again at twice the price.
No matter how high you set your expectations, this will beat them! We packed a lot in to our trip to New Zealand - kayaking, caving, the Alpine Crossing, glacier hikes, but nothing topped this day in the Coromandel. Challenging, exhausting, exhilarating, this is what we remember and talk about most. Russ and Wayne, our tireless and outstanding guides, kept it fun and interesting while quietly keeping it safe for everyone. Each drop was different from the last - rappels/abseils, slides, jumps, swims...and a cookout at the end to help refuel. A day not to be missed, and never to be forgotten!

I'm a keen fan of the out doors, and all the adventures we can experience in this amazing landscape New Zealand has to offer.
I have been lucky enough to experience much or the tourism operations and private adventures on offer nation wide over the last few years
I gotta be honest this is the top of the list of things I would recommend anyone to do!!
The Guides are truly professional, safety is paramount at all times, the scenery is stunning and you really get to experience the Adventure!
the money is Well justified for the experience You get

I recommend the sleeping god Canyoning with Canyonz.
I appreciate the professionalism of Teri and Wayne there are fun, very helpful and very safe, awseome!
A wonderful time, thanks for sharing maori culture (songs, fauna, flora)!
You will enjoy abseiling, slide, jump (one is very high: 10 meters), and an amazing zipline .
Beautiful volcanic canyon, exposed to the sun all time.
The best: lunch time on a sleeping sunny rock, and hot barbecue at the end of the canyon.
Very good experience for a full day trip.
Kia ora, thanks a lot!
Let’s do it, again and again! Laure, French canyoning guide.
Such an incredible experience, I would recommend to anyone who loves the outdoors. Even with the rain we had prior to our trip and throughout the day, the views were still stunning, it couldn't be spoiled! The guides made the day even better - we definitly had some laughs! MUST DO!! :)
Thank You - to the thousands of travellers that have contributed to our Top Voted NZ Activities Map - it's free from Rankers.
These people are incredible! Not only do they take your life in their hands, but they manage to do it with the seriousness it deserves, but they also do it while making sure you have the time of your life. They made sure they knew everyone's name before we embarked and never stopped speaking encouraging words along the way. Their enthusiasm was so infectious and you could just tell they loved what they were doing and had genuine concern that you were safe and having an awesome time. The lunch was the best sandwich I've ever eaten and the cookout in the end was casual, celebratory and the perfect end to a satisfyingly exhausting day! We'll definitely be back again next time we're in NZ! Thank you so much Russ and Anna - you guys are amazing!
The canyon itself is beautiful and going through it was a lot of fun. The crew of CanyoNZ was very dedicated to making sure we were enjoying the activities while keeping things completely safe.
The best thing I did in New Zealand! Abseiling, climbing, jumping, friendly guides, BBQ and much more!
The whole trip was expertly organised and the guides were very friendly. I'm not really sure how to write this review without sounding like I'm raving but I'm not sure if I've ever had this much fun before. Between all the abseils, ziplines, pooljumps, etc, we were always doing something new and getting more challenging each time. Would definitely do it again.
This canyon trip was very expensive but amazing! The scenery was beautiful and the guides were really experienced. A must if you like the adrenaline of the heights and the dangerous (but extremely beautiful) nature.
We are used to do canyoning in France and Italy and we can assure you that this is one of the best we've ever done. It had everything we expected from a canyoning: long abseils, great jumps, scary slides, ziplines... All in a beautiful and protected environment but most of all, Wayne & Russell (the two guides) have the best spirit, are joyful and always make you feel 100% secure. They are the only people to operate in this canyon and they take small groups so you don't feel like in a factory like we did in the Queenstown canyon.
This canyoning trip is by far the best activity we've done in New Zealand. It's a full day of adventure, laughs, and you get rewarded by a great barbecue with everyone involved in the trip at the end. Plus their pictures (that they send you for free) are awesome!
We really are stoked you enjoyed the day Pauline and it was awesome to have the two of you along! We can't help but be a little nervous when people with lots of canyoning experience come along in case it's not as good as they hope it will be so really glad you were into it! Thanks again, all the best with your travels! Canyonz
A friend of mine was visiting from the states, and over the course of the week we hiked in Coromandel, did the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, white water rafted, Zorbed, fly fished, kayaked, and bungy jumped. At the end of the week neither of us had any question about our favorite activity--hands down, canyoning with the CanyoNZ boys was it.
As others have said, the guides make the day. Both were pleasant as could be, and worked themselves ragged to see to it that we were safe, comfortable, well fed, and having a great time. This full day of adventure would be a bargain at a much higher price, and the fact that you're fed twice and go home with excellent quality pictures at no extra cost makes it all the more impressive. The gear was outstanding and clearly in excellent repair, the food was fantastic, and the day was a total highlight.
Don't be daunted! If you have a reasonable degree of physical fitness (could you run a mile if you had to? Not fast, but could you make it?) then put this at the top of your list. Our guides Russ and Nick were great about catering the experience to the capacity of each individual.
And a word about the jumps--I watched the videos they had online and thought to myself "well, I'll do the rest, but no way I'm doing that crazy high jump". The day proceeds in a very stepwise fashion to the point that by the time it came for the biggest jump, it was super exciting, but I felt totally ready. It was an exhilarating experience to get through and by the end of the day you really feel you've done something.
Do it! It's worth the price!
