Unfortunately this is the only place in the area to choose from to stay in a motorhome. During winter the two freecamp sites on the lake's are closed which is a shame. It is the most expensive place we have stayed during our 2 week trip and has by far been the worst. Our site is on a slope, there is no phone reception and they charge additional for the wifi! Very run down park. I would highly recommend, if you can, to plan your trip to visit Tekapk during the day but stay somewhere else further along.

The worst campground we’ve stayed at during our 6-week road trip.
1. Upon arrival the staff were rude when telling us about their park.
2. We paid $52/night for a powered sight which is extremely overpriced for what you get
3. The next morning there was more snow on the ground and we weren’t able to leave because our vehicle would get stuck. Also the steep roads around the campground weren’t maintained and iced over. We saw 3 people slip and fall on the ice in the morning. We told the staff our issue about the worry of getting stuck due to the unmaintained roads and the manager came and was so condescending that he even swore while explaining that our vehicle wouldn’t get stuck. This was literally moments after we had just pushed a stuck campervan out of the snow. He then told us to sit around for a few more hours and wait for the sun to melt the snow and ice, proceeding to do nothing to actually shovel the snow or attempt to remove the ice on the steeply pitched roads .

The campsite was nice with plenty of room, however it was pretty pricey for a powered site in the back corner of the park with no lake view. There aren’t any other options in the area by the lake, so the price was understandable. The park is a short walk from the township which is super handy, and had great access to the lake’s shoreline.
This place is expensive but as there's no freedom camping you don't have many options. It was pricey but the facilities were great. My only issue was the showers only stay hot for about 3 or 4 minutes while is annoying considering how much you pay for a night.
Lovely campsite, very clean, tidy and very good facilities. It must all be very new, a vast improvement on the campsite when we visited several years ago. Showers and ablution block were excellent. Main block is not unisex. 6 minute showers are standard in most campsites. Stunning views of the lake. Worth a visit.
We enjoyed our quick stay at this Holiday Park. Clean facilities, nice hot showers with great water pressure, close to Tekapo Springs, and short well-lit walk to town for dinner (make reservations in advance in this small town). Sites are a bit close together and many ppl coming and going (we were the closest powered sites to the unisex bathrooms and recycling area). Our first night in New Zealand and enjoyable.
Great family park, with good all round facilities and plenty to do.
As said, they are the only option around, so they can do whatever they want.
Very crowded, not enough facilities for all (one small kitchen for about 40 campervans and tents).
Limited showers are a disgrace. 6 minutes limit with a cold water warning, all in a military style complex.
