In a quiet town with friendly owners and free wifi. Communal areas are nice and welcoming. Showers in men's a bit old but a good place to stay.

It was one of the best places we've stayed in NZ. Quiet, very clean showers and kitchen. Nice campground.....We stopped for one night but came back next night after visiting Hanmer Springs. Wifi is free for 200mb just enough to check your mail. We come back.

We are a family of two adults and four kids in a motor home. We loved this place. Excellent value for a big family and such a relaxed, peaceful setting surrounded by trees. The kids thought the playground was great fun. The dining area had a very homely feel with toys for kids and DVDs to borrow free of charge. Kitchen has all you need to cook - plates / cutlery etc. Fantastic place - we spent the day at Hanmer Springs hot spa & then drove 30 minutes to stay here the night before driving on to Kaikoura. We might come back this way too!

Very clean rooms, free wifi, wonderful and neat facilities and all around great value! This place is run by a genuinely friendly couple (Brent & Kara). The communal kitchen was clean and the lounge area is family friendly with toys for the kids. This is "THE PLACE TO BE" if you want to be within close proximity to the adventure destinations while avoiding the hustle and bustle to simply enjoy some zen time. Waiau motor camp is family-oriented, spacious, peaceful and close to Hanmer springs, Mt. Lyford ski resort and some of the best adventure and nature destinations New Zealand has to offer. Thank you Brent and Kara for everything and for being such amazing hosts! We will see you both again soon. :) D&MQ

Delightful little place to stay, the owners and their dog were very friendly and helpful. It was quiet and peaceful in a sleepy town. Very clean, the showers were the best so far on our trip.

Good welcome and excellent facilities. Restful site, good break for touring but not exciting in itself. Stunning scenery on ‘back’ road to Kaikoura (70).
