Fernwood Holiday Park is now under new ownership, with my wife and I having taken over on 8th March. We are aware some work is required, but the park has seen many improvements already, including letting people have a lie-in, as well as a refurbished kitchen, clean ablutions and very much tidier grounds.

Unpowered sites fairly close to road but not a massive problem if you park on the other side. Kitchen and showers very clean. Several locals living here but friendly, not a problem! $17 each for unpowered site and showers only 50c!

We stayed for one night in June on a powered site and paid $19 per person. We had enough space and the facilities were great. The owner is lovely, would definitely recommend this campsite.
Access savings worth hundreds of $$ on Top Ranked NZ Accommodation and Activities for just $1 per day.
This is a small campsite. The staff have a very business like approach. Just pay and there's your spot. The amenities are too little, even for the small campsite. Pretty noisy near the main road. Would definitely not stay here again.
It's a relatively small but lovely campsite. Helpful staff members and really good wifi! Can recommend it for sure.
Paid $18pp for unpowered site. Very helpful and friendly host, clean facilities and well equipped kitchen. They have a swimming pool (we didn't use, late arrival). There's even a small garden with natural grown herbs and vegetables for free use. Hot showers costs 50 cent/6 minutes. Free WiFi!
Only negative aspect: there are two roads nearby that were hearable in the morning (quiet at night!). This is clearly one of the best parks we've been to in the last two weeks!
We have stayed in 21 parks throughout the South Is and this is the most disappointing. Only two showers in the Mens for the whole park, one internal toilet + urinal and two unisex outside. Muddy campsites and also asking top dollar with paid showers (the only one out of 21). You also need a torch at night because there is no park lighting.
