The motor camp is next to a busy road. Many cars driving down 100km/hr starting at 3am. The camp itself is quite ugly. Facilities are good though. 16$pp nonpowered. Hot shower, full equipped kitchen, 500mb free wifi

Unpowered site 32 dollar for two people. The only spot (and definitely
the best!) where we stayed more than one night on our trip trough NZ. Sweet owner and friendly staff. Cleaned regularly and showers (6min for only 50cents). Laundry and drying possible.

Not the best campsite we've encountered. The local resident gave it a strange vibe. The kitchen is a bit simple. The pool is nice but we were unlucky with the weather. Kids (4 and 5) were not impressed. To expensive for lower standard.

Truly the best campsite in NZ!!
The owners are very lovely people and will go out of their way to help you. The cambins and kitchen/living areas are cleaned very regularly, which makes it a lovely place to live or stay. Lovely pool area, which is gorgeous in the sun. We ended up staying here as we were working for a few months, we then went off travelling for a while but returned to the camp as we liked it so much!! We want to return one day soon as we miss it very much.

Nice campground with a hippy feeling about it. Very friendly and helpful lady at the reception. Big parkland with grass and trees. Dated and clean facilities. Several friendly residents. We didn't find the dump station though we really looked for it. Maybe a signpost would help.

Tasman Motor Camp - Ruby Bay responds:

We dont have a dump station , only a grey water area which is located at back of camp in flax area.

Great little camp ground with everything you need. Jo and Tony were great hosts and would regularly pop in to say hi and check everything was okay. We were there over new years and Jo entertained the whole camp with live music, she is quite the talented singer. There was a great friendly atmosphere and the whole camp got involved.

The facilities aren't fancy but are tidy and well maintained, kept clean and due to the small size of the camp you don't have to wait for a shower, even at peak times. Likewise with the kitchen, there are two on-site so always room. The pool is great for keeping the kids entertained.

Lady at reception was lovely and really helpful. Cooking facilities were good. Negatives were the residents (kids running around our camper at 9pm pressing their faces on the windows), got woken up at half 7 by someone with a "pimped" exhaust so bad it made the van vibrate, again we believe one of the resident's.
The facilities are dated, toilets without seats and wet floors etc, foosball table without a ball.

Tasman Motor Camp - Ruby Bay responds:

Tony and I have been working hard over the last 4 years to improve facilities at the camp, upgrading constantly. We pride ourselves on very clean amenities even though they are older. Foosball ball is available at the office as they are often lost by children or over nighters. Our few retiree residents are hand picked and very helpful to those that come to stay.Thank you for your comments, so we can make this camp even more enjoyable.

Cute but slightly down-at-heel campsite with several long-term residents. The owner was lovely and friendly and the site was leafy green. The facilities were fine and clean, excellent hot shower, everything was just a bit old and worn. It felt like quite a relaxed campsite but there were lots of warning notices and lists of dos and don'ts which didn't seem necessary. They also gave us a code for the WiFi which was nice except we couldn't find anywhere that picked up a strong enough WiFi signal! Overall good but not excellent.

Tasman Motor Camp - Ruby Bay responds:

We have a few retired residents only but do support the european seasonal workers, the wifi isnt strong and everyone is told the best place to receive it,We dont like notices either but unjfortunately people need reminding so this is a requirement.

A solid 10. The motor-camp was well maintained and absolutely beautiful. The facilities were spotless with unlimited hot showers and the host, Tony, was amazingly helpful.
Be sure to call in advance if you're arriving late at night.

Small and cozy; extremely friendly, family operated by a retired couple. Toilets and showers clean. Kitchen equipment very simple (no soap, etc.) - better bring your own stuff. Kitchen and common room standing open all the time, so be prepared that it's a bit colder in winter/spring. Laundry ($2) and dryer ($3) available.

We went here because of the good reviews and were not disappointed. Very friendly people, good prices and even a free WIFI voucher. Sanitary feels a bit dated but had everything you need including hot showers. Great alternative to the more expensive camp sites close to the Abel Tasman National Park.

Wonderful friendly owner and great place, the pictures don't do it justice. Small camp, and two kitchens so plenty of space for everyone! The only criticism is that (like many places in NZ) a few people seem to be living there which creates a bit of a strange environment.

I really enjoyed my weekend stay at Tasman Motor Camp. The accommodation was unique and cool, with individual 'pods' set out around the large spacious site. The hospitality was second to none and with easy access to Nelson town and the Abel Tasman national park it really was a long weekend to remember. 10/10!

A lovely clean, green camping ground hosted by Tony and Jo, who can't do enough to ensure guests are comfortable. The camp has a great swimming pool, and is surrounded by native plants and I love to hear the sounds of bellbirds and tuis singing during the day. Jo has given the campground an extra arty touch by adding lots of quirky signs and beautiful kiwi art pieces. I returned early 2015 and loved my time there. Some Sundays Jo (who is a professional singer) will hold a concert. Good music, great people, beautiful environs.. What more could a traveller ask for? Looking forward to returning later this year. Cheers Tony and Jo :)

Well situated only a stones-throw away from the beautiful Ruby Bay and just a short drive to either Nelson or Kaiteriteri. Great place to stay if you're looking for the classic Kiwi holiday.
