Took my son, hubby and 2 pups there for what I hoped would be a relaxing long weekend. The park is a lot smaller than you'd think from the pictures and you cannot access the river to take dogs on a walk or swim. Campsite is located right next to the main road, so although you have the convenience of a petrol station right across the road, there is a lot of road noise if you're in a tent. The facilities are very nice and staff are friendly. Not much to do for kids unless you're up to walking down the road for pools, etc.

Expensive, $38 for powered site, one person. Crappy wifi. Only stayed because I got in town late. Never again

Mawley Holiday Park responds:

Seems we didn't meet your expectations on this trip. Your non specific comment regarding "crappy wifi" surprises us as we have boosters throughout the park and haven't received any other complaints in this area - perhaps you are referring to the amount of free data supplied on check in?? The free quota is enough to check e-mails etc if you needed more you only need to ask and we would've discussed options with you. Such a shame you didn't experience the full value of the Park including free laundry facilities, proximity to the centre of town for shopping & dining and so much more..Happy Camping!

Excellent facilities and convenient location, centrally in Masterton. The daily cleaning keeps the place very tidy. A new fence around the whole property has filled the security gap that used the plague the park. The kitchen supplies, especially pans for cooking, are tired and need replacing. Rodney and Jelena will be missed once they’re officially gone mid 2018.

Good facilities here: kitchen and bathrooms good. It was quite busy in October. Not particularly picturesque or peaceful, but family-friendly, and close to town. And you have to pay for wifi.

This place is a short walk into town, good clean facilities and in a pleasant park. The open to the street issue has been resolved as the park is fenced and you can get a code for the gate from reception. You pay for Wi-Fi.

Rodney at Mawley holiday Park is just a beautiful, charming local.
He runs one of the nicest parks we stayed at. The holiday park was affordable, clean and beautifully looked after.
Rodney came and checked in on us which was very nice of him, unfortunately the weather was typical New Zealand weather and our camper got bogged. We managed to free it with some help from some of the semi-permanent residents which was also lovely and very helpful.
We made sure to tell Rodney that's we'd made a mess and he was completely okay! He blamed the weather and not us and he was just an all round lovely bloke.
We'd stay again here every year if we could.
Clean shower and bathrooms as well! No wait to use them.

Loved this caravan park. It was walking distance to the town and train station (20mins). Situated next to a stream and had a service station over the road, which was handy at night for snacks and drinks. The amenities were great. They had the toilet and shower in the same room with plenty of room to dress, away from the wet shower floor. They were clean and modern. There were many bathrooms available while we were there (early Sept). The kitchen and laundry services were great. We only had to pay for the dryer. The washing machine was free. The children's area looked good.

A very well looked after site, with a very clean & well equipped kitchen. The showers were brilliant. It's clear the owners take great pride in maintaining the site. It's walking distance to town. Camp on the right hand side as you enter the site and you avoid the road noise.

A really lovely campsite. Well maintained, excellent facilities and nice and peaceful. The only thing that lets it down slightly is the public access at one end, as many others have already mentioned. It just meant we didn't feel as comfortable moving around the site freely and leaving our van unattended. A pity because otherwise it was excellent.

Great site! Very spacious. The last stop on our Christmas summer holidays before going back to the real world. Ended on a high. Super awesome renovations have happened here. Very clean, soap and paper towels available in the bathroom. Great host. I would definitely recommend!

Clean, good showers that work really well and are hot. Lots of spacing for unpowered sites where you can pick your own spot. Friendly staff. Easy walking distance to town. There is public access to the park through a gate onto the main street at one end which may bother some people if sleeping in a tent or car/camper van.

Only stayed one night en route to Wellington but felt had to say that this camp has the best shower facilities we encountered at any campsite in our four week trip. Brand new individual shower/toilet areas were excellent and clean. Also free laundry was a bonus. Owner very friendly.

We spent a week there very recently. They are the only park in Masterton, and our experience was very positive. They are cheap, $12 each for a powered site. Toilets and showers are new and clean. The owners are truly lovely people and could not have been more helpful. The site is near a lovely river, very quiet.
It would be better if they could close the pathway through that allows non residents access, then I would give them full marks, this was not a disturbance however.
