The cost of $59 for a non-powered site is the most expensive we have encountered. Of most concern was the feeling of being unsafe at night time when there was a fight between permanent residents at the camp. Phone numbers listed for the facility just went to answerphone - I did leave messages. I was tempted to ring the police - the disturbance beginning at 2am lasted 45 minutes. It appears that there is a need to employ security and give the number to campers arriving. Obviously I will not be returning. I did ask the staff at reception when I was leaving if they were aware of the issue. They hadn't picked up the messages and said they would investigate.
We stayed in our caravan over Xmas 2020. It was very pricey, but with three young kids we needed the on site entertainment! Pool was great, as was the playground and they just got the air pillow up in time for Xmas day. Facilities are a we bit tired. The place was very busy and it coped with the crowd. Our site was great , we needed to swap sites to a less shaded area for our solar panels and the staff were very obliging. So over all we had a great time- but for the cost I would expect the available Facilities to be top notch. A good family holiday site all the same.
Despite a lovely campground environment nice friendly staff can’t recommend the facility, gripes are as follows. Stayed in both a 2bd & 3bd units during recent Jan 2021 stay, experienced:Heaps of flies in each unit, arrived to a half dozen or so & because of ingrained filth they just kept coming back each day. Leave a window or door open for long units filled with flies. Cockroach infestation. Running along the floors, across oven tops when cooking, in shower when washing, in bed when sleeping. Sticky filthy floors. They made bare feet soles black walking on the carpet inside, clearly heaps of ingrained dirt in carpets. 3bd unit had a spa but colour of the water was to hideous to get into. Suspect riddled with bacteria. No smell of chlorine like you’d expect.
Sticky floors and bench tops in 3bd unit. Some surfaces clearly hadn’t been washed down in months eg top of fridge, shelves, window sills.Couldn’t run heat pump it blew out deep fat filthy smelling air. Suspect filter never cleaned.Camp ground had outdoor swimming pool, but way way to cold for swimming in, only adrenaline filled kids game. Told heating got turned off over summer months. Shame that was one of the attractions with booking. Curtains in unit stunk and filthy
Unit BBQ filthy, carcinogenic burnt remains, long since ever cleaned properly and utensils chained on so couldn’t take inside to wash them properly. Window & door joinery looked about seventy years old and literary falling apart, rattled & wind blow through keeping one awake at night. Shower unit mouldy and filthy.
Pots and pans in cupboard dirty with food from previous guests. Cleaners seen before occupying units but clearly did an appalling job.
A hundred & one other little things like missing kitchen utensils that you would expect to be there, poor TV reception, washing machine but no washing powder, broken bits of furniture and walls etc $380 per night way way overpriced, worth more like $80
I’m writing a review as there hasn’t been any for nearly a year and I think this could lead others to dismiss staying here as we nearly did and that would be a shame. The description mentions new owners and I think they must have come in since the last reviews were written. We very much enjoyed our short stay. The facilities were very clean and plentiful. There was even a family bathroom which we sadly didn’t find until bathing our baby in the laundry sink. The pitches were spacious and grassy and even the motorhome ones had a nice aspect down by the river. It was all very peaceful and the main noisemakers were the ducks! The only negative is that although within the block there were plentiful showers, sinks, cooking facilities etc, there was only one block which was quite a distance from some of the furthest sites. I will also slightly caveat my review by saying we were there in a Sunday night not in school holidays and it wasn’t super busy so it might be a different experience under those circumstances.
Wow - they charged me over £1000 for a 4 night stay in a 2 Bed apartment. Arrived - no air con, nousable kitchen cooking facilities, nowhere to sit as sofa broken, allowed tents to camp up to and around our accommodation - just rubbish treatment all round - sux
Long day travelling and looking forward to a shower. Should have got 7 minutes of hot shower got no minutes just ran cold. Smelt like open sewer in the cold shower. One next door not so bad but shouldn't have to move! Dump station really awkward to access. Numbers not easy to identify you have to go through ridiculous TV programs street names. Finally worked ours out between Peyton place and Ramsey st. Just put the numbers on the sites.
Great swimming pool, good, clean kitchen facilities and BBQ. Good kids playground and tennis courts. No charge for showers now.
We were here in the off-season so it was very quiet, like a ghost town. We arrived at 7pm and the office was already closed but we had instructions to find a spot. The kitchen was huge and freezing cold. The bathrooms were cold too and the hot water was not working. In the morning the staff tried to remedy the situation and reimbursed our shower money. Definitley not my favorite holiday park.

Hi Martha, thankyou for your feedback, this winter has been a bit quiet, its given us a good chance to update the blocks, we have build ceiling in the blocks & kitchen which has made them alot warmer & looking into heaters for the bathrooms. We are new owners & working hard to upgrade the park.
Hi when we stayed here in feb 2018 the site was very unkept and scruffy , showers and kitchen were filthy and a health hazard access to communial areas were dangerously uneven and need to be attended to ,Quite expensive for what you got verry dated accomadation ,and needs a thourgh upgrade dont stop here :-(
Hastings TOP 10 Holiday Park responds:
Hi Brian, the park is now under new ownership, we are working hard to update the park & facitilies. And bring it up to a great standard.
Overcrowded, cramped, noisy and overpriced. I will not return during busy times (Dec, Jan, Feb; school holidays; public holiday weekends) as there were too many people for the space and facilities, which made for a frustrating, tiring stay. Toilets ran out of toilet paper by the end of the day. Not enough tables under shade, so many guests have to eat their meals at the tables in the sweltering sun. (The sail that provides shade over part of the dining area is also the only protection from rain, so I presume that on rainy days the guests who miss out on tables under the sail have to eat standing in the spaces between tables or wait hopefully for someone at a table to finish their meal and leave!) There was a radio station playing constantly in the kitchen and bathrooms - no way to turn it off - this made for a noisy, unpleasant environment. This is the most expensive campground I've ever stayed at but has nothing that other campgrounds don't have to justify the extra cost. The pool is lovely but so crowded that it's hard to keep out of each other's way moving around the pool. Some campsites are under trees but the entire double row of campsites that we were in has no shade at all. The row of campsites we were on is parallel to a busy road, separated by a hedge and footpath from the road: loud traffic noise including trucks was constant from 6am on.
Hastings TOP 10 Holiday Park responds:
Hi Lil, thanks for your feed back, the park is under new ownership. We are doing lots of upgrades. It is a very busy park in summer, will look into seating. thank you
The amenities were nice. Had to pay $1 for 6 minutes for the shower. $4 for the washing machine and dryer. The park was nice. Seemed like a family orientated park, but was a little pricy for a powered site, especially having to pay for the shower on top of the site fee. Other than that, it was a nice clean park.

Thanks for the review
While they were nice enough to give me a big discount (usually $46 a night but brought it down to $23 for me, travelling by myself) I didn't find much that I liked about this park, considering the (still) high price. It was massive, not in a great location (I'd expect this to dictate the price), had a very small TV room considering the size of the park, and you had to pay for a shower. Pros are that the wireless is fast (you still have to pay for it) there are lots of toilets and they are clean, the staff were all very nice and polite, and the bathrooms also had hairdryers and straighteners for those interested. A fine park to stay in if you just want to re-charge over night but not a destination in itself.
Good camp. Quite busy when I stayed but lots of facilities meant little wait for bbq and showers ($1 6 minutes but was a good hot shower). Warm pool and a free spa made or relaxing. My wife appreciated the nice gardens and children enjoyed riding around the big park on the go karts. Very impressed.
very nice park in hastings, new zealand.
Expensive, dirty pool and cold showers when I was there.
Great Place for families & children
Swimmingpool & playing area
Very very clean facilites (showers 1$)
Great bbq area for free
Great Outdoor diningroom area / not so many tables Inside
Laundry 4$/ dryer 4$ (expemsive but good working)
One of the best holiday parks we have stayed in. We could immediately see why this park is a top 10. A really well presented park.
We had a great 5 nights here. We spent 3 nights camping and 2 nights in a cabin. The park has attractive gardens, clean camp kitchens and bathrooms. The pool was great and heated as well as other facilities spas, tennis court etc. We will be back next year with the kids
At last, a spacious Top 10 site - we got a great pitch for our motorhome under trees, with a view across the park to the stream, ducks etc. Musac from kitchen (as at Te Anau and other places) an unwanted intrusion - but it gets turned off fairly early. What looks like a permanent encampment of weird and wonderful mobile homes, old caravans etc in one section of site is strange and a bit of an eyesore but you get used to it. Staff helpful. We recommend OdysseyNZ for your wineries tour. Choose a pitch away from noisy road beyond the big hedge. Good facilities. We enjoyed our stay - but wished the site was in the more attractive Napier.
Camped here for 3 nights and really enjoyed our stay. The gardens and camp lay out are lovely. The facilities are well laid out and had everything we needed and wanted. The staff are friendly and the cleaners kept everything spotlessly clean. Its close to town, splash planet, Napier and winerys. We will be returning.
My family and I stayed over Christmas 2013 and what a great stay. The facilities were kept spotlessly clean, the staff seemed to go round and round in circles and couldn't do enough for us all. Even though there were hundreds in the park. The outdoor BBQ area , fire place, swimming pool, playground so well set up. Can't rave about the place any more, just can't wait to get. Back there. Thanks to all for making it our best family holiday yet.
Stayed here for 2 nights and loved the place. Beautiful park
All parks are good, nice facilities etc etc.
Quite old amenities.
Great customer service but some facilities were a bit tired.
Appalled by price compared to others around for half the price!!! Had to pay for showers only for them not to work. Staff unfriendly.
Absolutely awsum place beautiful scenery friendly and attentative staff had a awsum stay was quite impressed with the state of the showers and bathrooms usually have to pay more but found it cheap and easy to use. My partner and i enjoyed our stay and the quietness and serenity of the place will DEFINATELY be booking this place as our preferred holiday spot for next year
Impersonal campsite, a bit crowded and boring. But has all the facilities you need, showers are expensive!!

No mention on arrival of charge for shower. Did not have $1. Had not encountered the practice previously in North Island. May not have stayed here but too late as paid up.
- Unfriendly staff, expensive (showers not included in $44), dirty ammenities, kitchen not equipped.
Thanks for the great stay. Stayed with you for the mission concert and we really enjoyed it. The place was spotlessly clean, and hospitality was second to none. The swimming pool and FREE BBQ complex was amazing. And thanks for lighting the large outdoor fireplace for us all. we didnt have a problem with the metered showers, our stay was still cheaper then napier, and we never had to line up for showers because of. We will recommend this park to anyone and everyone See you again next year
Arrived 7.10pm. No one in reception. Note on door said find your own site and they would see us in the morning. So found powered site beside tree. Very pleasant. First impressions of ablution block..dirty tiled floor. Ladies shower very cramped with no room to put anything. Shower only went for a few minutes. Husband returned to van angry. Men's shower cold. Same again in morning. No hot water. For a 4Star camping ground it was very disappointing. Would avoid in future.

Great camp, beautiful grounds (despite randomly naming each section after a TV street) and very helpful staff who built up a great fire on a cold evening. Noisy building work in the morning brought it down a bit.
The owner/host Isobel was 10/10 for helpfulness and attitude. She was like a tourist agent. Nice ammenity layout. Great trees but poor showers.
Not quiet at night. First Top 10 where we had to pay for BBQ and showers.
Jane & Regis
Toilets had dirty smell Showers needed payment and took half the time to heat. the cabins were shocking with lots of spider webs and black spiders crawling around. On top of that we got an invasion of ants. Under the seats were crumbles of previous visitors.
A lovely spot, great holiday park. We will be back. Location next door to the Splash planet is excellent to keep the children happy.
