Best stop on the peninsula. Access road mostly unsealed, okay for all. $18pp for site, showers and animal park. Complete steal. Only downside is park isn't maintained like a government zoo but can't imagine that possible with the open fowl greetings, and poo! Take gumboots, it's no joke. Highlights were feeding literal handfuls of Lorikeets, 4ft eel, cuddly bunnies, chatty birds and farm staples. Exotic pheasants go under the radar, but do visit them. No Wifi

Mill Creek Bird & campervan park is a such unique site that I cannot see anywhere else. Birds and farm animals and especially these two lovely parrots saying hello and goodbye. The site has clean facilities, unlimited hot water and is very cheap.

This birdpark and campground is really worth its price. We had a cabin with our 2 kids for 40 dollars. Tent is only $4nzd cheaper. Good entertainment for the kids. Facilities are really clean. Only minus: Minigolf and playground are quite old and rundown.

A nice change on a holiday full of beaches and crowds, this is five minutes off the main road into the hills on an unpaved but smooth road. Well set out campsite and our 2 year old loved all the animals and the playground. Peacocks, duck and geese ate with us at every meal. This is an awesome off the track experience. Be aware that the large number of birds (it is a bird park) means any flat surface is likely to have its share of poop. No different to a day at the lake. If you let this put you off you'll be missing out on a great experience. Kitchen and facilities more than adequate. Unmetered hot showers worth it all by themselves.

Great place with a clean hot shower, kitchen, dump site, laundry (4NZD) and toilets. The animals kept our kids busy all the time ;) 18NZD per adult including the animals, but they offer discounts.

A bit more expensive compared to DOC campsites ($15) but worth it. Nice and quiet place (except the sounds of the birds), hot showers, kitchen with everything you need.

Went here because of the raving reviews. Indeed a quiet camp site, lot's of animals for the children to feed and interact with but cleanliness was below expectation. There was animal poop all over the place, including the camp site grounds. The BBQ area and picnic benches were not clean either. There was ' stuff' standing and lying around everywhere giving it an overall scruffy feel.
We were planned on staying here a couple of nights but left after one.

This is a must. Camping is awesome here, the facilities are top notch and include the bird park anytime you want. So many birds and animals and a mini golf course in the playground. Is really one of those places you have to experience if down near Whitianga. Its our favourite holiday destination for sure :)

Awesome cosy campground! Fred&Gaye are fantastic and everything was perfect during our stay, even during full Christmas period. Kids had a ball with the animals and playing around this nice and safe park. We loved it!

absolutely the best. in june, we had the site all to ourselves. big clean kitchen, big clean bathrooms with hot water, nice manager, and the best part, the animals!!! pygmy goats, a baby pony, the welcoming party of white ducks, and so many amazing birds. easy to get to, close to whitianga, beautiful view of foggy hills in the morning. one of thebest campsites in a year of camping in nz.

Brilliant. We stayed only 7 nights in our touring caravan. Pitches had plenty of space for everything even when the park was full. Facilities very good and really clean. Surprised the showers were free of charge given that the site fees were cheaper than others in the area. Only a short distance from Whitianga a great spot for touring the East side of the Coromandel. The bird and animal park was a great bonus for kids of all ages with lots to see. Many thanks. We'll be back!!

We camped at Mill Creek Bird and Animal Park for 12 days and had a fantastic time. The amenities were great especially the showers and I was happy they had filtered spring water for drinking. Our 7 yr old became the camp unofficial tour guide and took all newcomers around the park introducing them to all the animals and birds. The river was awesome to swim in and cool down after a hot day and we had many bbqs and met lovely people, especially Gaye and Fred. We could see all the stars at night and it was great not to have tv and other modern techno stuff for a change. The baby moreporks were SO CUTE!!! LOVED IT

Such a great, value for money experience. We visit every time we go to Whitianga (about 4 times a year). The owners are really friendly. We love seeing the different animals and birds (the are a lot of them to see). Our favourite bird is Layla, and we enjoy her tricks every time we visit. Our kids (ages 6 and 8) always request a visit. I really recommend a visit.

First time in Whitianga and decided to check this place out. Amazing value for money! I definitely had doubts but when we arrived, the owners were so lovely, friendly and super welcoming, and the animal interactions were a lot more than bargained for which was great fun! Definitely a great place to go! Thanks for the warm hospitality.

I had such a lovely time during my stay at this Campervan park. Fred and Gaye are a wonderful pair, and the fact that entry to the bird park (which is AWESOME by the way) is also included in the already cheap prices is terrific! Would wholeheartedly recommend this to any one wanting a place to camp/stay, which is in a beautiful setting for families and has plenty to do for kids!

A great place to stay!! Awesome for the kids - with all the animals, a fantastic playground and even a miniature ride on train. Fantastic facilities - hot, high pressured showers, flushing toilets, kitchen (complete with jugs, microwaves, elements and fridges) and a BBQ area!! All of which are a definite bonus when camping!! Theres even a cute little cafe in an old caravan where you can purchase coffees, pies, ice creams etc. All of this surrounded by stunning scenery!! Over all ..... fantastic!!

Lots of cool animals at the park! My favourites were Charlie the friendly lorikeet who loves to sit on people's shoulders and cuddle, Lala the show off corella and the adorable donkeys and miniature ponies. Be sure to give the eels a pat too.

This must be the best kept secret on the Coromandel. Campsites very well set up, facilities top notch, - glass doors on showers - very high pressure. So quiet at night - except for the morepork. The birds and animals are wonderful - over 400, and so well housed and kept. Was a privilege to stay there. Well done to the owners. Very close to Hot Water beach, the beach, etc. Very reasonable tariff.
