This is our third or fourth time staying 😁Just the two of us a couple of times then our two youngest children with us the next time, then our adults kids this time along with our mokos, and my parents, brother, his wife and our nieces on the last night of our stay.
I recommend the showers around the beach side they're more modern than the older ones near the games room. We stayed in the basic kitchen cabin which was great. Pool wasn't heated (was advised on the booking) but the kids still braved the dip! We went to see the glow worms that was stunning and only a short walk in the ngahere. 🌳🌿Toilets and showers are always clean as in the cabins. My only concern is that there is no hand towels or air dryer to hygienically dry your hands in the camp toilets.
The proprietors are always lovely and of course the location is stunning.
We will be back as usual :)

This is a fabulous spot. You need a car to get there but once there you are in a beautiful location. The cabin we stayed in had everything needed and was very comfortable. Another heater was provided when asked for. Excellent fishing from the beach there.

Hi. We stayed here just after the Ester rush had all left - what lucky day! The place was nicely active and friendly. We requested to park right up front by the dunes, which was awesome to wake up to that. We liked it so much, we stayed an extra night.
Got recommended by the office person to walk up the track behind the camp which we did. Nice walk. There is a heated pool at the camp too.
Nicely surprised to see they welcome DOGS here. And have an area by the dunes especially for camping dogs, so we will be back with our guy, who had to stay behind... : (The place is clean and well kept, I can see why they get so many good reviews.
Keep up the good work guys : )

Love Ohiwa holiday park, this is our 2nd stay and will be back next year, Close to the beach making it easy to swim everyday, we decided to stay an extra 2 days with friends and had to move to a non powered site, which was fine as we are fully S.C but didn’t like being charged the same for a tent site as a powered site!

Ohiwa Beach Holiday Park is definitely a recommend from us and we'll book again. The Onekawa pa site is a must to do and down to Bryan's Beach and then either walk along the beach back to the camp ground or turn around and walk and enjoy the bush, birds, and gorgeous views again from another angle back to camp.

Ohiwa Holiday Park is a regular spot for us. We love it here. The welcome and friendliness is great. We are on a powered site. These are big in size. The sites are terraced which allows everyone to have a sea view. The amenities are spotless and are checked regularly during the day. There is a swimming pool there for those that don't want to go in the sea. There is a great native bush walk with great views of about 4.8kms. Thanks to all of the staff.

It was really the best place to be... It has been our first camp since we got to NZ and it was amazing. The kids loved every moment. They felt save and relaxed. One thing I would recommend is to ha e another fridge as the two in the kitchens wasn't enough. We could not pack any of our fridge stuff like yogurts, milk, salads ect in there as there were no space? That was abit disappointing. It would've been nice if there were trays for every camp ground number or something like that... But we were super happy. Wish we could stay longer hehe.

I think this is definitely more aimed at families. It was $65 a night for two of us on a non powered camp site. You had to pay extra for the showers which I thought was a bit much after the cost of staying there was so high. The size of the pitches were generous but it felt really cramped as people used every last inch of grass for their camp set up and also had to find space for their cars. The neighbouring camp pitch parked their car on our site twice which was really annoying. The facilities were fine. It rained so bad, which is not the camp grounds fault but there is literally nothing to do on a rainy day. We called it quits after one night despite having paid for two. Looked great for a family holiday but if you are a couple traveling during peak holiday times looking for some piece and quiet there are some really nice freedom camping spots near by.

We had a lovely three nights at Ohiwa Beach Holiday Park in our van. We didn't like our allocated space and the management were happy for us to move to one that we preferred, sites seemed to be good-sized. There were several smaller ablution blocks around the campsite as well as the main one. The showers cost 50 cents for 5 minutes but were great. The kitchen had several sinks and cooktops but absolutely nothing else. Need to take your own cooking utensils and dish wash liquid. Great spot by the beach (just across the dunes) and a very short walk to the estuary and bush walks

My sister and I stayed at the ohiwa holiday park for a total of four nights. It was so peaceful and relaxing. If your a bird lover you must experience ohiwa. Tuis, king fishers, rosellas, quail, wekas, and the calls of pheasants all add to the chorus during our visit. Only one thing I would have liked to see different is to have the a way of drying hands in the toilets but not a biggy. If your thinking of visiting then do it. Its wonderful.

Lovely campsite, clean, well-maintained facilities and situated right beside a stunning beach. The pool was a nice alternative when not in the mood for a trip thru the dunes. Internet connection was free and the speed impressive!!!
All three kids had a blast, making friends with others their age and hanging out late into the evenings.
We arrived on the Friday of a long weekend. The place was jam-packed and had a great atmosphere. The fridges were also jam-packed - which is the only negative I can rustle up... more fridge space would have been nice :-) Lots of families headed home after the weekend which solved our fridge problem, but sadly, left the kids without their new friends.... We still had Rummikub to occupy our evenings and had a great stay over the remaining days!!!
Glad we were able to find an available spot here and hope to return.

Do not rent Tourist Flat 1. The online photos are from Tourist Flat 2 which is bigger. We feel this is misleading advertisement as you expect the tourist flats to be similar in size. Flat 1 is too small for 3 people. Bunk bed ladder health and safety issue as you cannot get in a safe way in and out of the bed. There is no space for bags. Rat trap at back of unit. Noise during day and evening from glass recycling. In the first day there were fireworks at night. Wifi worked only intermittently on Android tablet, not on Android phone or Windows 10. Wifi so unreliable that after a while we used mobile hotspot on Android mobile phone. TV cable broken and shield wires sticking out. Had to buy rope in local hardware shop to hang our wash on.
Be very careful with the kitchen hub. It looks like an induction hub but it is not. The hub stays very hot for a long time and you can see something glowing under the glass while cooking.
We expected a bit more from a cabin paying almost $200 per night and decided to leave one day early.

Excellent Holiday Park - Great facilities, clean and well maintained.
We were disappointed as a couple with no children to be given a site that was surrounded by families with lots of young children, and adjacent to the play ground.
One other suggestion, is that certain sites are natural 'cut through' points for the beach. Maybe a designated pathway, so individuals don't ride/walk through your site?
Overall - GREAT stay, thanks, Jason and Vanessa

A beautiful camp site set in sand dunes, with a long stretch of unspoilt beach at your doorstep, and pohutukawa clad hills behind. What's not to like? Places like this are national treasures, keeping world class beaches within the reach of anybody with a car and a tent. The people who run this place are as friendly and helpful as you'll meet; it's clean, well kept, and did I mention the beach? Just outstanding.

Got a Standard Cabin with my fiance for 3 nights. Bunk bed with a double on the bottom and single on top. Fridge for beer and a jug for boiling water, along with a small table and two chairs – everything you need :)
Beautiful setting right in there with nature. Great walk over the hill right next to the campground – glow worms at night! Table tennis was great fun (but bring your own balls or they're $1 each from reception). I'm 29 but bouncing on the big inflatable trampoline they have there was awesome fun.
Short walk to the beach through the rest of the campground – great for surf casting and swimming.
Staff were wonderfully friendly and super helpful – they recommended another DOC campground to go river swimming near Opotiki which was _awesome_.
Clean facilities. Hot showers cost 10c per 1 min but if you can get away with a cold shower it's free!
Will definitely stay here again! :)

There is a jumping pillow and lay ground for the kids and it is a reasonable place to stay though quite out of the way. We wouldn't stay here again only due to the location wnd it being very busy. My new wife and I arrived as honeymooners to this lovely beach location in early December. It was if we had the place to ourselves, two weeks out from Christmas, and it was just fantastic. The quiet, bird songs in the morning, sea view from our self contained kitchen cabin was so welcoming, and the service was A+. We were even given the kayak experience for free ( being newly wed!) Thanks to Todd and Nola, you guys helped make our first few days truly memorable.

what an amazing place to stay and relax. very clean and tidy and great staff. They have a jumping pillow that my daughter loved and it isnt that far to walk to the beach. They have kayaks and bikes for hire. great games room and kitchen facilities as well as very clean toilets. This is a must if you are wanting to get away for xmas or just for the break

We are sitting here having breakfast on our 3rd day in this gem of a park; the birdsong is incredible, the view from the kitchen, to the ocean & then onto White Island is incredible. The hosts are just charming & really knowledgable about the area.
The facilities are good, big generous grassed sites, good amenities. This is the best park we have stayed in on our 2 week trip around the North Island
