Information

Turangi Holiday Park is an ideal park for families, large and small groups, trampers, fishermen, skiers and adventurers or just unwind here in our beautiful and quiet surroundings, there is plenty of space and privacy.

CORONAVIRUS:

We are a huge park and are opening the back part of the park for individuals that need to self-isolate.

This is more than 200 meters away from our normal guests. Toilets and showers are available. Cleaning procedures will be discussed when the guest arrive via email.

Our cleanliness and hygiene are as good as you can get.

We also offer the following services: Fees applies

- Obtaining groceries, medicine from the pharmacy and or doctors
- Help with documentation (printing and sending)
- Doing laundry

This all needs to be arranged via email prior to arrival so that no personal contact is needed.

Nothing comes close to the sheer natural beauty of the Lake Taupo region. Located in the centre of the North Island of New Zealand the lake is only a small part of the Central Plateau. This plateau also contains three large mountains boasting three unique ski fields.

The trout fishing is considered some of the best in the world. Just two kilometres from our Holiday Park is the well known Tongariro river, where many very large brown and rainbow trout have been outwitted.

Turangi is the gateway to the Tongariro National Park, the famous Tongariro Alpine Crossing and the Kaimanawa Ranges – We make a great base for the Tongariro Alpine crossing – transport is available right from our front door.

Turangi is the place to be all year round, skiing in the winter, boating and swimming in the summer, and of course fishing all year round.

Large groups are not a problem, and we are an ideal school camp for anytime of the year.f

We have space for everyone…………..

Fantastic front line staff (Shelagh) who are only too pleased to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Based on that the new owners are updating, things, I think they are doing a great job. Don't always judge a book by its cover. I had a great stay, was very comfortable and was very happy. i will be back. Thanks for being so welcoming and helpful Shelagh. Chris

Very good size pitches. Excellent for Tongariro crossing ( shuttle is $50 pp)
Facilities are quite old fashioned, in need of modernisation but clean. Didn’t use WiFi but Vodaphone coverage is good. Was not busy when we were there.

Great place to stay for the Tongariro crossing! Pick up can be arranged from the site at 6:40. Quiet, small campsite, superclean toilets and showers, even a (good working) hairdryer in the showers. Great kitchen with BBQ and clean & ironed teaclothes. Very nice relaxing music in the toilet& shower place. Very friendly host! We advise everyone to go there!

This was the only campsite in NZ that I would give negative feedback about (of 6 we stayed in). In their description the "new" owners say they took over in 2016 but I find it hard to see what they have actually done in 3 years. The place still looks so run down and in need of TLC. The location has so much potential and the basic structures are there - but getting worse not better in shape. They say they are "low cost" but they are not NZ$45 for two people in a campervan on a powered site is not "low cost" compared to other campsites which offer so much more. I cannot recommend this site and would suggest people look elsewhere until dramatic changes are made.

Super charming place with nice clean toilets and showers. Kitchen was nice but not that well equipped. A bit pricy but after the river trail it had everything we needed for a days rest.

Owner was very helpful and very nice. Nice grounds. Very poor shower facility. No doors, only shower curtains, no bench, no place to put soap or shampoo, everything metal was rusted. No ventilation. Mirrors too foggy to use. No rubber mats. No outside lights. Really worn out. The price is high for what you get.

Basic serviced campground. Owners are super helpful. Camp is tired - but very functional in a great location. Lots of space for everyone, and plenty of (very basic) cabins available.

Good basic kitchen and shower facilities, though the showers are starting to show signs of age. Large sites with trees providing some additional privacy. Great overnight site before the Alpine Crossing.

Friendly staff and every campsite had a picnic table, which is nice. But the toilets and showers really need an update!

Facilities were old but clean. The campground is just nothing special and it doesn't look like somebody really cares. $20 per person for a powered site is too expensive for this camping. However we just wanted to sleep close to the town to do the Tongariro Crossing hike the next day and for that it was ok. No gates to get out early morning.
