Stayed there on the weekend. Exceptionally clean and quiet. Nothing was too much trouble to please us. Beautiful outlook. Will definitely recommend this place to anyone. Thank you very much.

Pleasant little camp with small sites. Tends to be a bit on top of one another when full. Toilet and shower facilities good and a very well equipped kitchen all be it old and needs refurbishing. Dog friendly camp to those who like dogs. Unfortunately I don't but they weren't a bother. Tidal area but very suitable for children for kayaking on incoming tide. Very close to town, easy walk. Pleasant stay and would recommend for a quiet couple of nights.

Kawhia Beachside S-Cape Holiday Park responds:

I am not sure what date you were here. We have increased the size, and decreased the number of the sites. We want to provide a quality stay for our guests, rather than quantity of people. Yes, we are Pet friendly by arrangement. We do not allow pets in the motels or cabin/kitchen area. We ask our guests with dogs to keep them contained on their site or in their RV. On a lead all the time and controlled/pooper scoooped. Carolyn.

Will never ever book here again! Very rude owners, I had rung the owner she said it was fine to bring our 2 dogs they just weren't aloud in the cabin which we totally understood, turn up after 4 hours drive with our 4 tired kids to pay and grab our key and the husband gave us a horrible look and said it's ment to be one dog we told him we had rung and his wife said it was ok, anyway we paid went to our very shabby cabin and owner comes over and tells us to get our dogs off the grass and put them in the car by this time we had had enough packed up got our money back and went to forest view the owners there made us feel so welcome, very rude owners will never return again !!!!!!!

Absolutely lovely setting! Friendly staff! Quiet, flat grass. Ask for a pitch right next to the sea (just a few meters of grass to the pitch). However if you have a self-contained campervan/motorhome/trailer $38 is expensive for NZ...

Kawhia Beachside S-Cape Holiday Park responds:

I think those were the prices used before we took over the camp. However, this is a beautiful spot, you have an absolute waterfront site and the free use of our modern clean ablution block with hot showers, free WiFi, and the use of the large fully equipped camp kitchen ie crockery, cutlery, pots and pans, fridge/freezers, cooking facilities, and lounge with SKY TV.

Very beautiful location on seaside with small grassy sites. Very friendly hosts. Amenities good, kitchen ancient, but ok. The old kitchen/rooms block is a bit of a sore sight - just turn your eyes on the bay!

Kawhia Beachside S-Cape Holiday Park responds:

Thanks for your review and comments re the beauty of the location. We agree it is a lovely spot to stay. I see you visited our Holiday Park some time ago. My husband and I are new owners having been here almost 5 mths.
We quite agree that the cabins/kitchen are badly in need of some renovation. This is on our 'to do' list and will be started on next year. We have been working on tidying up the grounds and increasing the attractiveness of the place. The best part, the waterfront sites and motels cannot be seen from the road, so unfortunately it is really the back of the property that is first observed. If you ever get the opportunity to visit Kawhia again, please do drop in and see the difference. Cheers, Carolyn.

Scenic but scruffy surroundings. Very small pitches, even for a tent let alone a camper van. Nice view across bay if you are lucky enough not to have someone else in front of you. Very Nice facilities. Expensive @ 38NZ dollars for two, with power. Score based on out of season experience when site virtually empty.
