Gateway to stunning Northland, the birthplace of New Zealand, Whangarei is a great place to base yourself at, whether exploring the local district and its many attractions, or for day trips further afield.
Whangarei is quite literally the city of 100 beaches – and we know all the ‘secret spots’. Where else could you have white sand and turquoise water to yourself all day? If that sounds too relaxing, you could visit famous Whangarei Falls, take a tour out to see the largest sea cave in the world, dive or snorkel at the world-renowned Poor Knights Islands (best sub-tropical diving in the world), browse art galleries and museums, visit the large cats at Kingdom of Zion, try some of the superb bush or coastal walks and hikes, or tour an award-winning local winery.
Our small, picturesque Holiday Park, situated down a quiet side street, is bordered by Parihaka Scenic Reserve, and with native bush-clad hills as our backdrop and a lovely river running just behind our Park, the peace and tranquillity will have you feeling like you are miles from anywhere. You’ll be amazed that the heart of Whangarei city, as well as the Town Basin and Quayside Marina, where great restaurants and cafes overlook the picturesque yacht harbour, and where you'll find museums, art galleries, and boutique artisan shops, is less than 2 kms or 3 minutes drive away.
Enjoy the space, privacy and quality of a studio, 2 bedroom or 4 bedroom motel, perfect for a great getaway. Separately situated, with roomy, natural timber interiors and outdoor patios that capture the sun, you’re guaranteed a relaxing break.
With self-contained units (2 bedroom), ensuite units, or cabins to choose from, you have plenty of options to suit your budget. All of these units are rated 4 star, and have decks overlooking stunning NZ forest reserve, right on our boundary.
With just 50 campsites, right next to Parihaka Scenic Reserve with its back-drop of bush-clad hills, the peacefulness and ambience make a perfect setting. Choose a grass or all-weather hard site, all of which are close to amenities

Stayed two nights at this holiday park. Shower and toilet facilities were excellent. Clean, tidy and very new. No additional coins needed for showers. Would recommend

Small compact park, however facilities modern and spotless. Relatively central to town, with no traffic noise. Sure there are no bells or whistles but staff were super friendly and helpful. Great parks and walking trails at back of park. We stayed on 2 occasions as were very happy with it. Price reasonable for top 10 chain.

A typical Top 10 park at standard level. They have a jumping mat and playground for kids, kitchen and toilets are without warmth unfortunately. There is a family shower and baby bath. Nice campground and very very nice and friendly owner. Recommended if you want to stay at a holiday park.
Each camping location is approved by a regional council in NZ. So if it shows on the map, you’re allowed to stay.

Clean and basic campsite. Stayed there on our way to Tutukaka, for some excellent diving, which is a 30 minute drive. Unfortunately we didn't had time to see the recommended areas/walks nearby the holiday park.

Good compact holiday park just outside the town centre of Whangarei, nicely located beside the Hatea River and handy for the riverside walking track (either into the Town Basin or upstream to Whangarei Falls - which is well worth the walk). Good facilities, with large and clean kitchen and bathrooms. Only real complaint would be the price - $48 for an un-powered site for two adults.

Hi Folks,
We stayed here for two nights due to a diving trip. We have been around in September 2015. The place is clean and the facilities are as expected by a Top Ten Holiday Park. Everything is in a very good shape. The playground is in a good shape. It is not a very special or fancy park, but a solid good one. The price is as expected by a Top Ten Holiday Park. No bad surprises, but also no god surprises. The camp ground has a nice size.
cheers

This park was nice and quiet. Amenities were good, but had to press a button on the showers after 5 minutes to keep the hot water going (and the button was on the outside of the shower door). The kitchen and laundry was good. Had to pay to wash and dry the clothes. Powered sites were reasonably priced and the service was friendly.

Quite small. Good kitchen. Toilets/showers clean and tidy. Warm TV room. Public park and bush walk at the bottom of the camp. Slow and very limited WiFi.

We stopped over at this top 10 holiday park to split up the drive from the north as the free sites available south of Cape Reinga weren't great. We really enjoyed the site, a little pricey ($44 for 2 adults in a large camper for one night), but got free internet (100mb) and managed to do a couple of washes ($4 per wash, $3 per dry). Each campervan spot is concrete, with electricity and a fresh water tap. Showers were lovely, nice and clean and hot! Worth it for a comfortable night in the camper.

I often come here and hire a cabin as a base for activities in the area. Always really friendly/helpful, with nice facilities. This time we took a powered site.....nice concrete pad provided.... nice modern clean bathrooms, free showers, good kitchen with under cover seating. Didn't get to use the free BBQ area... the only problem we had (nothing to do with owners! ), we arrived on the coldest night nationwide this year..brrrr
Am advised it has just been taken over by a new owner who formerly ran another well ranked Top Ten.

Small and nice, so book ahead for the summer. Clean and spacious facilities. In the north the campgrounds just seem to be a bit more expensive.

A holiday park that is very neat, clean and with new equipment. Located close to a river and hiking trails. There is a trampoline for children and a public playground not far away.
