Great place to make sure you have plenty of time for getting the salmon prepared and have lunch there as it is a good experience. Make sure you buy some bait though as the salmon are smart. Staff were not very well trained so ask a lot of questions. Salmon was a bit fatty but tasted okay.

Great place for kids, we all caught one.

Please do check your bag if you are taking your salmon home. We cooked 2 there, brought what we thought were 3 salmon filleted fish but when we went to cook we were only given the skeleton of the fish, so nothing to cook!

Fun fishing activity with a pay-what-you-catch model. Would have liked a little better instruction for us first-timers. The meal from our catch was still one of the most rewarding.

Took a while to get a bite on the line, we were just about to leave without catching anything, then finally managed to catch a salmon at the last minute. It was good to show the kids where Salmon steaks come from, there was some talk about becoming vegetarian until the cooked salmon came out. Also got our fair share of sand fly bites around the legs, so make sure you take sandfly repellent! Salmon cooked up nicely for us, overall we had a good experience.

Overall a great experience, and good value for money. Catching and actually killing a salmon is a good experience if you have not done it before. Can't recommend the sashimi since they do not know how to cut it.

Good experience to catch a fish but a bit pricey for having to do it all yourself. Nice cafe and cooked alright but again a little pricey for what you get.

It was fun, evenso not difficult to catch some fish, since it's a pool full of salmon, hungry salmon.
The preparation was quick and fine. The bar is nice. Good place for some fun.

I was a little sceptical I would have enjoyed fishing at the beginning but the whole experience was very positive. A really good place to take your kids for a special day.

Catch your own salmon - out of their breeding from lake. Our oldest had been eager to go fishing for weeks and it was easy, successful and provided a tasty lunch (hot smoked!).

If you visit Anatoki Salmon farm and buy their fish, you can stay for free on their parking lot. It is lovely and quiet. Biggest bonus for our kids were the animals from the wildlife park next door.

What a fantastic afternoon we spent here as a family of 5. We caught 4 salmon, had a delicious lunch and got to take our hot smoked (varied flavoured) fish vacuumed pack and ready for the trip back to the North Island. Yes, it is a bit of a drive via the Takaka Hill, but the scenery is great and the road an experience in itself. Well done on your great facilities, friendly staff and thank you for providing such a great family experience!

You can fish for free and hire equipment at no cost - which was great fun. Not completely free as you do have to pay for what you catch (per kilogram) but great value for money and tastes delicious once it has been smoked onsite.

made phonecall twice to make special request, but when I got there they said they cleaned and didn't have it anymore, and the person who took message was home, and no apology from the staff. Found a bit arrogant as I went there all the way. The last time I went there people were a bit better.
