Interesting museum covering the history of the ship all over the world. Makes you realise how different things were before air travel and cargo ships of today. Then to see the size of the bunks inside too was fascinating for my kids. Definitely worth exploring if you have time in Picton.

As my grandfather had been a shipwright on sailing ships, I now have a better appreciation of the trade he pursued during his working career - a real education.

This is a wonderful museum, and we could easily have spent lots more time at it. As it was, we were there for 2 hours but had to leave in order to catch our ferry. The local society have decided on 'preservation' rather than 'restoration' of the old ship, and the displays and video tell you why. It's a good idea, and the result is a much more interesting ship to look at, compared with restored ships elsewhere. There was a nice helpful lady volunteer there, too.

This was fantastic and we fell that anyone who goes to Picton and misses this will have missed out on a historical treasure.
A must see as far as we're concerned.

Thank goodness some locals preserved this piece of history. It was amazing to learn about the construction and history of the Edwin Fox, in one of the best local NZ museums I've visited, and then to actually step inside and explore the 9th oldest ship in the world sent tingles down my spine, as I thought of its journeys and the people whose lives it has shaped whilst in awe of its structure.

This is a must see for any Australian or Kiwi interested in maritime history. Especially because of the Convict transport connection to Australia
