Glenstrae is a proper working farm in the Kaikoura hills, not a theme park ride dressed up as one. You're out on quad bikes (or in the Argo if you prefer to be a passenger) traversing actual hill country, dipping through creek crossings, and pulling up at spots where the coastline opens right out below you. Reviewers consistently mention the views, the seals spotted from the cliff tops, and the creek runs as highlights. The guides, Alastair in particular, get a lot of credit for reading the group well and keeping things moving at a pace that works for everyone.
If you've never ridden a quad before, don't stress. Full tuition is included and the learning curve is pretty gentle. Minimum age is 16. (Promo code RANKERS gets you 10% off if you book ahead, handy given the tours include snacks and run for a solid few hours.)
My read of the reviews is that this one suits a wide range of people. Not just the adrenalin seekers, a 65-year-old said they enjoyed it just as much as anyone. It's a good pick if you want to get off the Kaikoura strip and actually see some high country while you're here.

absolutely amazing adventure.
fantastic owners, had a real laugh throughout the trip. the experience will stay with me forever, the excitement of riding the bikes, and the wonderful views from the farm. i can reccomend this adventure to everyone, is fun for all the family, and an experience to treasure with your friends/family/travel buddies... (i returned to Glenstrae on 3 occasions it was that good)

Absolutely brilliant!!
Alistair was a brilliant guide – straight talking, patient and easy going. I’d never been on one of these before but he made sure we were happy with the quads before setting off on our 3 hour tour! We got some brilliant photos of the coast and saw some seals and dolphins from the cliff tops. It’s easy to get the hang of the quads and so much fun to speed around through the different terrains – i particularly enjoyed speeding through the creek! I’ve been to Kaikoura before but didn’t do this – now I’d highly recommend it to anyone who visits! Don’t miss out on this if you visit Kaikoura!

This is a great trip with quality Honda quad bikes.
I found the steering a little heavy at first (no power steering) and consequently went a little too slow for some of those following. I am 65 and don't do adrenalin rushes but I am sure I enjoyed it just as much. The views are fantastic and Alastair seemed to pitch the pace for the slowest rider and told the ones behind to wait for a while and give us a head start if they wanted to go faster. The tracks are narrow in places with deep groves but nothing that these great bikes can not handle. This is a far more enjoyable ride than the other commercialised rides we have found in other places. Bes!t yet. Do it

This was awesome, had great fun hooning around on these buggers, and when the oppotunity came, you go zipping pass everyone.
The trail was good and the stopping points were great fro photos, plus snacks and the drive through the creek was cool. Thanks Crew.
