Very, very helpful company. Vicky & Steve did all they could to provide us with suitable camper van despite being the busiest time of year. We had to change vans because of availability towards the end of our booking, but the changeover was very easy and we ended up with a larger, more comfortable van at no extra cost. The vans were very well equipped and proved very reliable. Vicky & Steve responded very quickly to all our many queries & questions. G and J Campers highly recommended.

A great, family run small company, who provided a good service. We hired a 2 berth Kea Freedom, and were pleased with the whole experience.
The 'van was well equipped - most of the equipment looked quite new, and was all very clean.
the satnav was a surprise to me ( didn't realise it was provided), but was fantastic, especially when used in conjunction with the rankers app - campingnz.
The handover process was smooth, and we were soon on our way.
There were a few minor niggles initially, but after contacting them, Steve phoned back promptly to help/advise.
Nothing major though, and it did not detract from the enjoyment.
All in all, a very good experience, and I would definitely recommend them.

Everything associated with our hire of a Transit Kea van from Kia Ora Campers was excellent. Ross, who handed the van over to us at Christchurch Airport, could not have been more patient or more comprehensive in explaining the operation of the van. Although it wasn't the smartest van on the road it worked perfectly for us throughout and the price was very reasonable. The arrangements for handing the van back at Christchurch airport couldn't not have been more straightforward. Thanks Vicky and Steve for a great time.
Very impressed. They had thought of everything you would need. Easy to deal with and available whenever we had a query. Would definitely choose them next time.
I would recommend Kia Ora Campers definitely to everyone. The communication before and during our trip was so easy and helpful. We felt all the time fairly treated. The Camper Van was exactly like it was told us before. We had NO bad surprises or troubles all the time. The equipment of the Van was perfect, nothing was missing. And the Van itself worked totally fine.
The Pick Up and Drop Off went fast and uncomplicated.
There is really not one negative point about our experience. This is exemplary company.
Thank you so much!

The contact before hiring was very friendly, also the pickup. Everything was explained very well. Our Ford Kea Tourist 2 berth is driving superb to everywhere we want to go. The bed slept very well even with the length of 1.96m.

Kia Ora arranged for us to pick up and drop off our camper in unusual locations to suit our trip. They were friendly and helpful throughout - the kind of service you get from a smaller and more personal company. Had a couple of small problems with the camper, but we paid less for an old model and problems were quickly fixed.
Rankers provides the best information for renting a motorhome. We visited New Zealand in September 2017, and it was awesome. Steve N Vicky from G&J Campers are fast n reliable, responding to our queries and there was no hassle at all. The Navigator made it all possible and it was fun and enjoyable moment for me N my family. This is our first time and will never be the last.
On behalf of my wife n my son, we like to say Thank you!
The camper van was as advertised and is an excellent way to tour the south island. We had some problems with the van and didn't get the level of support that we expected.
Kia Ora Campers (G&J) responds:
I'm very disappointed with this review. thay had problems with the sat nav saying he couldn't work it and was not shown .(we put them in free of charge and have latest maps ) .
They had other day to day motoring problems that were not that huge .
They were reimbursed quite substantially for any inconvenience and we do the best to help with any problems.
Camper was very spacious, had everything we needed. Steve and Vicki were great to deal with.
Dealing with Owners Vicky & Steve was a good experience however the firm they had delivering the camper van was less than desirable. Vicky & Steve have indicated they have made changes with this procedure so we wish them the best.
Kia Ora Campers (G&J) responds:
Sorry about that and we've made major changes with delivery and show around .
we went from Christchurch to Auckland with a Ford Transit Campervan. It was really nice maintained. We enjoyed to travel with it and Vicky and Steve are easy to contact.
The security deposit is not booked during travel, that saves the fee after returning the campervan. This is a big advantage!
Great service, a nice guy.
We had numerous problems with our campervan which spoiled the first 5 days of our holiday. The handover of vans at the start is not done by Steve but by a 3rd party now, and frankly it was pathetic, the guy knew almost nothing about the workings of the van. Steve was helpful when we contacted him about all the issues while we were on the road and we ended up really enjoying the 2nd half of the trip. The issues we encountered with our campervan are listed below:
1. Inadequate instructions on how to use campervan features and no instruction folder provided
2. Smoke detector and water filling cap missing - we waited for these to be rectified before we took the van
3. Fan / demister not working and was a safety issue - repaired on 4th day of trip
4. Hot water system not working - repaired on 5th day of trip
5. Toilet flush not working - we repaired
6. Gas stove main burner reflector shield broken - dangerous and needs repair
7. Window on drivers side of rear cabin leaking - wet mattress on that side
8. Drivers side window switch broken - repairs needed
9. Fire extinguisher indicator on recharge required
10. GPS maps out of date and comprehensive road atlas not in vehicle
Kia Ora Campers (G&J) responds:
we think a 6/10 is quite unfair.
Major changes have been made to our show out and handover operations.
yes there were some issues but not knowing about things until day 5 of the hire when they were like that at the start doesn't help, we are a phone call away and answer all the time to help sort stuff out.
The GPS are brand new and not out of date.
again these people were more than compensated for any inconvience.
