Great place clean toilets, rubbish and recycling right there. Take a walk to see the seal colony
We were super impressed by this site. It was a gorgeous place to stay with a toilet that was very clean.
Nice spot by the beach.
Again, make sure you arrive before 5pm. Toilets and cold shower.
Next door, you can have crayfish and a glass of wine 😊
This was a great, quiet spot with six sites. Excellent toilets, picnic tables and a seal colony near by. The rule of leaving early was followed by all when we were there - a short drive to the seal colony for breakfast. There was a nice walk on the cliffs above the seal colony. The near by beach bbq seemed pretty good value.
Awesome spot right on the beach! 6 designated parking spaces. Clean Toilets close by and 2 picnic tables. Council come and kick you out by 7am so no luck with a sleep in :(
Great spot by the beach! Close to the Kaikoura Peninsula Walk! Cold Shower, toilets and tables!
Only 6 spaces for certified campers, we got the last spot at 4.30. Council door knocked all campers at about 5 reminding us to be gone by 7am. Council checks every morning. Plenty of campers arrived after and stayed in the non designated area. Most campers migrated to the seal colony car park by 7am for coffee and brekkie. Toilet clean.
Awesome free spot with the sea right in front of you where you can snorkle, you can buy lunch/dinner 30m at the fish place and 15mins walk is Point Kean with loads of seals, what's not to like?
We were here in december and it got full around 6 but guess thats incomparable in these corona times...
As others have said you do need to be here early - in winter (July 2020) & NZ border closed b/c COVID - we got the last spot ~ 6pm and there were others who missed out. Close to the seal colony and cliff walkway which is well worth doing. Very clean new toilet facilities, rubbish/recycling; quiet tho parked right next to the road.
Great little spot by the beach. Toilets and cold showers right there and kept very clean. Rubbish and recycling bins also. Need to get there by 1pm as spaces start to fill up. We were the third camper there, only 6 allowed. We walked into town which was about 45 mins but an easy walk. When we got back there were more than 6 campers there and lots not self contained. I had already taken a photo of our camper before we walked into town in case it got checked on but no one did. Overall a great spot!
Nice parking lot near a rocky beach. The public toilets are clean, thank you fellow travelers and Kaikoura community. The downside is the road very close to the parking. Luckily it is t a busy road.
Great location away from town, close to the Peninsula walkway.
Beware of seals by the boardwalk. Very clean public toilets and recycling and robbing bins nearby
Brilliant spot with a good view. Cleam toilets and rubbish and recycling bins.
Just a guy
Beautiful spot with clean flush toilets and an outside cold water shower. Next to a seafood foodtruck. Only park in one of the handfull parkinglots for self contained campervans as they will check daily if you are really selfcpntained and parked in a correct spot. They even checked one of the van if they could use their toilet while the bed is ready to sleep.
Great location by the sea and 10 minute walk to the seal colony, just make sure to go near low tide. Toilets and cold showers right next to you and recycling/waste bins. Windy at night. Make sure to grab a spot early as it’s super popular - come past midday and you’re too late. Local council check Self contained status.
Beautiful seaside location. Toilets 1min walk max. 6 spaces for self contained vehicles only. Arrive early to get a spot here as it’s very popular. Easy walk to the seal colony and what’s not to love about 40 baby seals!? Recycling bins next to toilets so don’t be that guy and put your rubbish in the bin.
