Raurimu Rex – the driftwood dinosaur on the main highway at Raurimu is worth a photo, he now has a local friend in the shape of a Kiwi at the beginning of Findlay Street in national Park Village. These sculptures are created by a local artist and none of the wood used is modified in anyway, very clever.

Sarah Cale runs a great little outdoor company. We went kayaking on the Tongariro river and organised it beautifully.

Thank you Sarah, we had an amazing time yesterday. So impressed by your professionalism, cheerfulness, and absolute capability and competence. Excellent gear supplied and safety covered at all times. The bush and river scenery is fantastic. It's great to think there are still places in NZ that you can't get to by road or track, only via the river. A great fun afternoon. Highly recommended to all.

I had so much fun! Sarah Cate is enthusiastic and very experienced and we had a great time. It doesn't matter if you haven't done kayaking before as the course is not difficult and you are really looked after, it was a real thrill! The landscape and the river are gorgeous and the activity was just fantastic. Highly recommended! If one day I go back to National Park I would definitely do it again!

Went with my 2 grandkids (11 and 15). Excellent choice. Enough rapids to have a lot of fun and a bit of a thrill but not too scary. Better than a more sedate trip on the Whanganui River if you only want a half day experience. Sarah was an excellent guide - reassuring for the nervous, challenging them to do push themselves as they got the hang of it. Lots of fun and in my opinion better than a rafting trip because you are only 2 to a kayak so it's a more immediate experience. Highly recommend this trip and operator.
