The Domain is a huge oasis in between Auckland central and Parnell. Gardens and lots of paths to check out, also a good short cut to get to other parts of Auckland. On the top of the hill is the impressive Auckland museum.

Chartered Raven 10.5 "Silver Stream". Staff were friendly and helpful, booking was easy and boat ready on time. Systems were explained in detail and questions answered. Wind 25 knots gusting over 35 knots. Boat performed well until roller furler mechanism slipped and had problem rolling up headsail in 30 knots of wind. All on board loved the experience and will charter a boat again from Charterlink.

I cannot say a negative word about Charterlink. They are very professional, efficient & provide great customer service. They are skilled & knowledgable & provided us with a charter tailored to our specific needs. "LIberte" was the perfect boat for us & though an older boat, it surpassed our expectations. The Charter itself was an incredible, exhilirating, surreal experience - one that I will hold with me for a lifetime. I will have no qualms in booking another charter with Charterlink - in fact we are already planning our next journey. I HIGHLY recommend Charterlink. Thank you so much for you part in this wonderful experience.

We sailed Elisabeth Reed, a 31 Bavaria for 3 big days. First day to Kawau, second day to Hooks Bay at the end of Waiheke, third day back to base.
On the first day we were reaching at 25 kts, top speed 7.3 kts. Second day was a reacher again with 2 pots of dolphins showing up, which was just magic.
We stopped at Tiri, which was well worth it.
At hooks bay we had fluorescent water at night, you could see the fish lightning up the water with each movement.
The boat handled ok. With 25 kts it wanted to round up on a reach and following waves if not properly trimmed, more pronounced than other boats.

Whilst the Jeanneau 36 we chartered was listed as the secondary "standard fleet" we found it to be of the standard of many charter companies better boats.

The preliminary correspondence and then the personal contact with Rob and Janet was always friendly, relaxed and we found them easy and pleasant to deal with.

The boat functioned flawlessly during the week we were away and we found many surprising inclusions to the inventory that made the trip easy. Everyone on board enjoyed the experience and we'll most certainly be back.

Thanks!

From the beginning CharterLink were fantastic. Answering questions we had regarding the charter process to the boat prior to departure to letting us enjoy the experience of sailing around the Hauraki Gulf without having to constantly check in. When we did have questions out on the water they were ready to answer. The Wright 12m cat was fantastic. We had a large group and there was plenty of room and it was well equiped! In all I would recommend this experience to anyone and I will definitely be using CharterLink in the future. Cheers Rob, Janet and Brett.

Thank you Rob & Janet for making the Charterlink experience enjoyable and hassle free.

We have just returned from a trip to Great Barrier Is and Kawau. The boat was very well presented and we were amazed at the thought that had gone into the gear & supplies that were on board.

The setup of the boat made for easy cruising with the family. The gear was all in great condition and 'Pure Escape' handled well.

Rob & the team made the experience hassle free, allowing us to deliver the first load of supplies a little early and then also assisting us when we returned.

We enjoyed the sailing & the Charterlink experience.
We will be back.

Thanks Rob

We've been chartering from Rob for about 3 years and we charter 3 or 4 times per year. We typically charter a 36' mono, but most recently took out a catamarran.

Rob the owner is a great guy - friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, responsive and relaxed. All great attributes from the charterers point of view when things go wrong, generally little things, as they inevitably will. It all adds to the interest and learning in yachting.

The yachts are always well maintained and presented.

In short, it's a hassle free experience from Charterlink.

We haven't sailed beyond the Hauraki Gulf - but it's a big area and there's always something of interest and plenty of good attractive anchorages. As suggested by the huge numbers of yachts in Auckland it must be one of the worlds best crusining grounds.

We chartered the Raven 31 for four days. The briefing on the boat's facilities was adequate but hurried. Had we not ben experienced in the handling of a yacht like this, I would say it was somewhat below par.

Our time on the water was, however, magic. After a blustery departure from the marina in a 20+ knot Northerly, we motor sailed to Islington Bay, spent the night there and next day motored to TiriTiri Matangi to visit the bird sanctuary. This is a unique location and should be on the agenda of any visiting tourist so that they can see the Takahe, the Tui, the Blue Duck the Bellbirds and Saddlebacks at close range.

Next day we motor sailed around the back of Waiheke Island and met up with a pod of about eight dolphins who swam and porpoised alongside the boat for almost half an hour. This was an amazing experience and one we will never forget.

CharterLink do their best to keep these older keelboats in survey at a charter price which is realistic. There will invariably be glitches but so long as you have some experience in the hqndling of such vessels and don't mind some minor deficiencies then you can certainly expect some good value for your money.

I will be happy to charter from them again.

Once we got past the paperwork phase, which felt a little onerous and antiquated, the practical experience was everything you could want.

We arranged a briefing on the boat a few days before we were due to sail and then arrived on the day to a warm greeting and assistance. The boat itself was well maintained and ready to sail as arranged. We got the same warm and practical reception when we arrived back at the marina.

This is an experienced and long standing operator with a good fleet suiting most needs and skill levels, coupled with direct service and plenty of practical advice if you want or need it.

I have charted a Bavaria 36 twice from Charterlink, once in 2009 and once in 2010. In 2010, all aspects of the charter, communication, briefing, boat condition, charts, helping with return, the Hauraki Gulf, even the weather, were perfect. In 2009, it was much the same, but two unexpected breakdowns, that were not really the fault of Charterlink, detracted from the experience, for me to rate that charter at 7/10.
