We were told about the little blue penguins that come ashore an hour after dusk, on the waterfront to the north of Te Papa. A treat for us staying overnight in our camper at the Wellington Wharf.

If you are going camping in a van consider visiting the two charity shops in Glen Innes (Suburb of Auckland). We came away with very good pots, pans, duvet, wineglasses, etc at very good prices. We also bought a used single burner stove, but all the campgrounds have kitchens and most have BBQ's, so we haven't used it once!

We were very happy with the van & service. Andrew has been very patient & helpful from the beginning as we were 45 minutes late. He explained everything in detail, park locations, operating the van, stuffs included inside. We had an amazing time in nz. As stated, everything was provided, even the heater. We couldn't have expected more.

I was in NZ for the RWC. Booked over a year in advance and I must sat they were great to deal with. The Van was exactly what we wanted.... cheap and easy to manage! We had the reassurance that Andrew was on hand if we were to have any problems (luckily we didn't) Any questions I had were answered quickly by email. Its the personable touch that sets them out from the rest as Andrew made it clear he was only a phone call away. Had a great time in a lovely country...

Hi William, we really like to hear that everyone has a great time in our great country. Ireland didnt win the World Cup but by the number of Irish supporters here they should have. The Irish flags were everywhere.

Andrew was very helpful in getting us started. the van felt easy to drive, was very clean and well maintained. we got 37 miles per gallon. great to have the free mobile phone and very useful atlas included. the drop off and pick were really helpful too. Thoroughly recommended.

Hi Biddy,
thank you for your kind comments. I know you had great time when you were here. Sorry the weather was a bit unkind at times but it has been a very unusual spring/ early summer. That B&B I picked the van up from was an awesome looking place.

My husband and I are from the US and we were worried about driving a campervan on the opposite side of the road with a left hand stick shift, but it really felt like the best way to travel and sleep in New Zealand. Andrew was great at explaining the ins and outs of campervan driving. Andrew provided us with a new zealand cell phone and a gps (extra$) but necessary. Our only complaint is that the campervan was very tall and narrow with a short wheel base so it handled poorly on windy days (which was every day). The price is awesome, the main selling point for us.

Cruzy Campers responds:

Hi Rachel,
you experienced a really windy time when you were here. Early November was very unseasonable.
Any high sided vehicle will react in the same way. Taller people enjoy the head room in these vans.
I hope you enjoyed your time in New Zealand.
regards Andrew

It was a joy dealing with Andrew and cruzy campers. Great to deal with an owner operator who knows what service is and means. I was in nz for world cup and driving this beautiful country was the way to go. Even dealing with Andrew after I left the country about a traffic fine was easy and personable (got off). You don't get that type of experience with the big companies. no matter what happens you feel you can chat it out with him.

Cruzy Campers responds:

Hi Declan,
you have the luck of the Irish for sure. I cannot imagine how you got off that fine but pleased that you did.
It was a pleasure meeting you. I know that you had a great time here in New Zealand.
We are here to help and make your holiday as enjoyable as we can.

Can't recommend this company highly enough and we didn't even get to drive the van! We booked a Toyota Hiace about a year in advance so we could travel around NZ during the rugby world cup. As our departure date approached I sent a number of queries and a change of dates to Andrew and Jenny. All were responded to quickly and positively. Then due to illness we had to cancel our trip days before we were due to leave. Cruzy Campers were amazingly understanding and supportive. Thank you Andrew and Jenny. And if anyone needs a van in September/October please get in touch with them. You'll be pleased you did.

We had a great time (mid febr-mid march) in NZ with our PAD1 Cruzycamper. Andrew & Jenny are very nice and friendly people. They're very helpful and reply the emails very quickly. A pick-up from the hotel (which doesn't exist anymore due to the earthquake) and at the end Andrew collected the campervan at another hotel.
The van was our home for almost 30 days and we loved it very much. It was clean, tidy and in good condition; we had no problems with it.
Thanks Andrew & Jenny!!

I would rank my experience with Cruzycamper…. Above 10…. 11 at least
At first, we booked the campervan for four weeks. I was travelling with my pregnant wife and my 18 months kid in a Toyota Hiace.
The campervan was clean and in very good condition. We really enjoyed our trip with it.
The customer service was very very good. From the start, Andrew was helpful and gave us travelling advice.
Then, the earthquake in Christchurch hit badly the country. Our flight was cancelled, petrol came short... So we extended our stay to 2 more weeks without trouble. Andrew was fantastic at this time, giving us advice and news about the city. It is not a usual situation an earthquake but he dealt with it.

My fiance and I spent nearly 3 weeks cruising around the North and South Island and had the trip of a life time.

We were met on time at our accommodation in Auckland and had a hassle free time the whole way. Andrew was always on the phone if we needed him ( only once and it was us not knowing how to properly work the fridge.... ) and was always prompt and helpful.

We had an automatic diesel hiace which although it wasn't the most modern of vehicles it did the job absolutely fine, never missed a beat and was extremely well looked after. It was a good size - not too cramped but not too bulky or large.

We'll be back in NZ in the future and will definitely use cruzy again and would recommend to friends and family.

Cheers Andrew!
