Kingston flyer is running again and is great way to experience history. Trip is only 30 mins each way which suited our short attention span. Stayed in campervan overnight in their car park right on the lake front - superb! Beautiful drive to queenstown along the lake afterwards.

We found the flyer when we missed our campsite entrance. Having found it we spent a very enjoyable evening in the pub and then had the trip on The Flyer the next day. The fact that the staff were upset by some vandalism at Fairlight Station the previous evening did nothing to prevent a brilliant experience on a wonderful old train. Congratulations to the team responsible for all the restoration and good luck in the future-----bye the way a lovely welcome was enjoyed at the pub again on our return!

Even Kingston itself is a bit of a time capsule! The train ride was like going back in time. Would have liked it to be longer. Staff really good - need to keep it running in the future.
