We were told about the little blue penguins that come ashore an hour after dusk, on the waterfront to the north of Te Papa. A treat for us staying overnight in our camper at the Wellington Wharf.

My wife and I really enjoyed our recent experience in a Kea camper van, and would like to share our comments with others. We picked up a Kea van on Anzac Day from Christchurch and drove back to Auckland, arriving Monday 30th April. We had never driven or stayed in a camper van before, and so it was a novel experience for us. I guess you could call us “Virgin Vanners”. The whole trip went off without a hitch and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Our one regret is that we did not allow ourselves a few more days to better appreciate the scenery and places, especially in the South Island. It was perhaps a little too rushed, Next time we would aim to do it for longer.
Whilst it did take a little while to get used to driving the six-berth vehicle, we were soon into the swing of it and found the driving to be no problem. We have even started talking about maybe buying a camper van and doing the “Grey Nomad” thing in a few years time.
We would like to particularly thank Rachel and Claudia in Kea's Albany office for their help, advice and encouragement, plus Melinda in Kea's Christchurch office. These three ladies were fantastic and made the whole experience first class. We would have no hesitation in recommending Kea camper vans to friends and family, as well as to visitors to New Zealand.
Cheers NOEL

We traveled 6 weeks with a 2 berth CV on South- and North Island. The pickup in Christchurch was excellent, Melinda, who took the Van back in Sydney Wednesday before was now in Christchurch and we didn't need a lot of explanations to go through: Great service. The van was in good conditions and consumed even less diesel as the one we had before (less than 10l/100km). The only exception of the otherwise high standard was the TV-Screen. We prefered to do it without...
Giving the Van back in Auckland was easy and went quickly. We got the taxi to town and had almost a full day to see something of the city. We certainly will rent again with KEA.

We traveled for almost 3 weeks through the Northern Island with Kea. The motorhome was very clean, equipped with everything we needed, the interior design was well though off. The car was easy to drive and handle, the service we received was perfect.
No complains what so ever. We will book KEA again and are recommending them to everyone who has the opportunity to visit New Zealand.
