We were told about the little blue penguins that come ashore an hour after dusk, on the waterfront to the north of Te Papa. A treat for us staying overnight in our camper at the Wellington Wharf.

We were looking to hire a cheaper van for our second trip to NZ. Freedom Camoers was recommended to us. The van was older, but we were paying realistic prices. The campervan was very clesn and very well equipped. We did appreciate the hot water bottles, the extra blankets the little fan heater, We felt we got excellent milage/fuel consumption.Great service from the office staff, Would have no ptoblem in recommending this company, If fact we'll be back to deal with the same company in 2014 - fingers crossed.

Went for the price... laundry list of stuff wrong. Truck ran like a champ, which is the most important thing I know. But fridge was 'turned on' for us during the walk through... turns out it didn't work. Went through lots of ice and cleaned up lots of water. We called, and they said 'we can have someone take a look'. Umm... no, we are on the Wellington Picton ferry, thanks. Not good enough anyway, you should have checked it out when you 'turned it on'. No refund of anything, nothing, nada.I won't go into every detail, but if you can get the the same thing for a bit more, go for it.

We did have fun around NZ, but the vans are old, we experienced leaks, breakdowns, sluggish performance of the motor plus things like the electric jug that was faulty.
For the price we could have, in hindsite, gotten a more modern van from Britz for the same price.

Poor set up for cooking when travelling. China breakable plates and glasses. Should be plastic or something more durable. The van wasn't particularly comfortable and the company failed to provide travel cot which we requested.

first few day were good, but as the trip went on the van got worse, tire blew, radiator leaked, had to take it mechanic, fixed the problem for a few days but then started leaking again, was told the van had just been serviced, however the oil was so black that i dont think it had been serviced in a while, it also kept getting stuck in third gear, wasn't exspecting the best van in the world for the price we paid, however would have been good if it ran well, wouldn't recomend them

We asked for an automatic car and she gave us first a manual, we had to wait 1.5hours to get the right one, and after 2 days, we had 2 blown tyres. They were not the best they said.
