One way from Wellington to Days Bay by ferry; a very good way to enjoy Wellington Harbour and Somes Island.

Even though Wellington is on the water, there are no commerical boat rides. You can kayak or take the boat to the South Island, but that is it. Your only option is the Dominion Post Ferry which is a fun ride. Just goes across the bay and there isn't much to see on the other side. Good activity if it's a beautiful day and you have nothing else to do.
