Rankers.co.nz presents awards to this years outstanding experiences, as voted by travellers to New Zealand.

A Traveller Voted Award is quite different to any other. This time tourism operators have been assessed by the most important critic of all - the Independent Traveller.

A Traveller Voted Award is presented annually to tourism experiences and operators which have displayed a consistently high ranking score throughout the year.

No-one is more honest than the customer.

The Rankers TravellerVoted Awards reflect the voice of the people that have recently travelled New Zealand.

Supreme Awards

From all the category winners, four are selected for our 'Supreme Award.' These, from over several categories, will have faced top competition from all other winners. Fair to say, that each 'Supreme Award' is mighty well earned.

    Visitor Activity Supreme Winner 2010

    A small company with a growing fan club. Green Glow have shown that it takes personal service to really light the way for their customers. Cracker work Paul.

    Visitor Attraction Supreme Winner 2010

    We get the impression that visitors with Maori Tours Kaikoura come away feeling like they experienced something special and eye-opening. Nga mihi nui koutou.

    Transport Provider Supreme Winner 2010

    Once again Wilderness shows they're at the top of their game in the highly competitive motorhomes market. Like 2009, traveller's continue to rave about their quality vehicles and helpful customer service. Well done Wilderness!

    Holiday Park / Camping Ground Supreme Winner 2010

    Although accommodation providers are new to Rankers it didn't take long for Aspiring Campervan Park to show their style. Guests from the world over love the facilities, friendly staff and great views.

Travellers often tell us that some of their best NZ experiences are free - but free things can be hard to find.

So we followed our noses around the country and collated a load of free things to do on rankers.co.nz. We then asked the traveller to tell us which free experiences they thought were best.

Here's the results of our 1st year of free experience feedback. There's more to come in the future too - watch this space!

The Nitty Gritty

Here's a run down of how these tourism operators where selected.

  • Results taken from over 10 000 reviews posted between July 1, 2009 and June 30, 2010.
  • Those with a history of good reviews before July 1, 2009 have the best foundation.
  • All Tourism Operators apply.
  • Qualifiers for the awards have a trusted body of high quality reviews.
  • No multiple award winners. Tourism operator gains award in category of highest achievement.

Awards are in categories - depending on the number of reviews and qualifiers, as follows

  1. Categories with the most reviews and number of strong qualifiers: one winner and two finalists.
  2. Categories with a reasonable number of reviews including some strong qualifiers: one winner and one finalist.
  3. Categories with fewer reviews and generally one strong qualifier: one winner and no finalists.
  4. Categories that are yet to have a trusted body of reviews have no winners or finalists.
