So, you’re tramping in the NZ rainforest, and a camel comes trotting down the track and says gidday. That’s fine – but it doesn’t quite fit. As an analogy, this sort of works for Nick, the camel in the Rankers rainforest.
Although cantankerous at times (particularly when he has quit smoking. Again. For the 236th time) it is often said that ‘that camel is an ideas man’, and he possesses an uncanny knack to separate our herd from the pack.
Hing Hong fish and chips – carting fish and cutting chips for a fish and chip shop. It sucked the kumara.
Sala Sala Japanese restaurant – working in the kitchen as an underwater porcelain consultant. Moved on to burning food, and myself.
Four Temptations dancing tour – did the theatre thing, leaping about on stage in tights and flowing silk.
Abel Tasman Stables – horses for a while, riding them and chasing them in equal measure.
Kaiteriteri Kayaks – I did this for the bulk of my working life. It was good – click to ‘Our Story’ here…
Why Rankers? Why not. It makes me happy. Like listening to Stevie Wonder in the sun.
Hello there. It is strange that I am talking to you in this way. Firstly – computers are a strange new friend to me. Secondly – being dyslexic I am wired a little different, so writing wouldn’t be my first choice of communicado, but here goes.
So my message is simple:
Make the most of opportunities that come your way.
Possibilities are the reason I like leaving home. When I pack my bags for the mission at hand, the destination doesn’t feature as much as the people I am going to be changed by. Maybe someone in a loincloth calling himself Mr Guru can answer all my questions, or a travelling companion that was put at that train station in my line so we would meet and be the travelling duo of the century. Or maybe I’ll meet the love of my life? This is generally where I land in a bit of a pickle. But not to worry.
To sum up this rant – People – nature – love – respect Any order will do.
ps – More is always more.
Go well, Nick
